Job Description

The Vice President, Global Sponsorship Marketing will be responsible for driving brand value, particularly from our global properties: Olympics and FIFA, along with property management and activation of the NFL and a number of other properties around the world. Visa is the exclusive payments partner for many of these events, so the position oversees management, operations, logistics, and Visa & client activations in a sponsor / partner relationship. These properties provide Visa with unparalleled reach to connect with global audiences, and serve as Visa’s most significant marketing investment. In addition to property management, this role oversees our relationship with professional athletes (such as Team Visa), and manages our sponsorship agency partners.

The seasoned marketing executive should have a deep understanding of the business of major Global Sponsorships and Organizing Committees. He / she must be an incredible relationship manager, think like an innovator, be excited by the opportunity to overcome significant operational and activation challenges, and have a superior ability to operate and lead teams through a complex environment.

This role often serves as the face of Visa’s global sponsorship marketing organization, representing our interests with partners at the IOC and Olympic Games Organizing Committees (OCOG) as well as FIFA and NFL. This individual will work hand in hand with Visa’s Global and Regional Marketing teams, our Visa Global Sponsorship Property Managers, and supporting agencies to delivery remarkable outcomes for Visa.

The position reports to the SVP and Chief Brand and Innovation Marketing Office at Visa.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Position Visa’s Global Sponsorships to drive impactful outcomes that deliver against our brand, product & client objectives driving preference for Visa and increasing partner and consumer demand for Visa products.

  • Deliver flawless operations, logistics, and activation (both Visa activation and client activation) of the global properties.

  • Champion Visa’s global sponsorship investments across the Visa business, internal stakeholders and external partner ecosystem.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and potentially implement new sponsorship opportunities within or beyond episodic sports.

  • Partner with key senior leaders with the development, sell-in and ultimate implementation of Visa product innovations within and through the Olympic Games, FIFA and NFL Stadiums; showcasing the Visa products (of today and tomorrow) to consumers and clients

  • Sit on key Committee and Partner Taskforces focused on driving Visa’s sponsorship priorities

  • Lead a team of high performing individuals and people managers to deliver on Visa’s most valuable sponsorship investments

  • The role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years in marketing for multinational organizations, (Global, Regional, or Local Market Office) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute large scale, global partner and sponsorship programs.
  • Operate as a marketing thought leader and visionary, with the ability to guide, influence and inspire peak performance across the internal marketing function and external client marketing functions.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead teams toward common goals. Highly collaborative, a great listener, and able to work across regions and geographies with your peers and executive teams to ensure strong partnership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management/building skills, experience in client management and/or agency side is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of the key properties related to the Olympics, FIFA, and NFL, and experience activating the proprieties is preferred.

Additional Information

Travel Requirements:

This position requires travel for work 33% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
