Job Description

Global Client Services works with issuers, acquirers, processors and merchants worldwide to develop and deliver the support model for Visa Inc. Within GSS, the Visa Rules Management's Compliance team enforces the common inter-operable rules, policies and standards for our products and services by which clients must operate their Visa programs.

This role is an individual contributor with some supervisory-type responsibilities working at an advanced support staff level. The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be for applying independent judgment in compliance efforts determined by Visa standards, assisting the business in resolving issues, making recommendations to achieve business goals and to also provide leadership and guidance on compliance matters to the broader team.

Essential Functions

  • Provide clients and staff with accurate interpretation and analysis of Visa Rules in relation to any associated compliance actions in response to telephone or written inquiries
  • Manage multiple, often high-profile, compliance cases at one time prioritizing as appropriate and provide of direction to both internal and externals stakeholders
  • Assist in the identification, development and update of new and existing pro-active compliance programmes
  • Lead daily compliance workcase distribution to US compliance team
  • Manage bi-annual publication and updates to the Visa Merchant Data Standards Manual including consulting with ISO and other payment schemes on any new Merchant Category Codes prior to introduction
  • Identify and implement any update of departmental procedures
  • Act as an SME for any updates to departmental tools
  • Manage Visa’s monthly billing approval and communication process for any Non-Compliance Assessments levied by the group
  • Be an advocate for updates to the Visa rules in order to more easily reflect current market conditions as a result of new acceptance-positive card-payment opportunities have been identified through compliance actions helping to ensure revenue is maximized

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 
  • at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or 
  • at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
  • 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 
  • 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 
  • 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Minimum of 10+ years progressively responsible experience in financial services, payment card, banking, audit or compliance is high desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven abilities in negotiating with and influencing customers and staff at all levels, including strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent writing skills to convey complex topics in “Plain English”
  • Strong analytical aptitude and demonstrated track record of working with data to develop business oriented solutions as well as the ability to apply sound business analysis to limit the downstream impact of decisions
  • Proven project management and coordination skills to co-ordinate divergent interests
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating needs into successful deliverables
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Dynamics a plus

Work Hours:

  • Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
