Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Director of Operations who can drive operational performance, in a complex, matrixed environment, knows how to handle working with a diverse group of senior leaders and can lead and inspire a direct reporting team of up to 2 analysts.

The position can be based in Arlington, Va, Foster City, CA or remote. This Sr. Director will be a key leader on the Integration, Operations & Strategy (IOS) team in support of the Data, Security & Identity Products (DSIP) team. This team aligns with the Business Strategy & Operations function within the Product organization at Visa.

Business Strategy and Operations focuses on defining and driving strategic, operational, and organizational improvements across Visa Product Group. Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • leading organizational planning, reporting, and employee engagement;

  • determining and fixing accountability for critical people and business processes throughout the organization; and

  • leading cross-product improvements / efforts such as business continuity planning, business risk analysis, and compliance / audit adherence.

The Integration, Operations, & Strategy (IOS) team within DSIP is a new team and has the following objectives:

  1. Establish operational disciplines

  2. Enable DSIP to generate future growth

  3. Support DSIP to execute on strategy

  4. Integrate Data, Security, Identity & Cardinal teams into 1 winning organization

  5. Support DSIP on all strategic projects & initiatives

The objectives #1& #2 above are specific to this role.

More detail on responsibilities for this role:

  1. Establish operational disciplines

    • Identify the right set of operational metrics that will

      • link to strategy and goals

      • enable leaders to have visibility they will need to manage effectively

      • enable the teams to understand how their products are performing to apply corrective actions in a timely fashion

    • Measure, monitor and communicate performance against these metrics to enable leadership to act quickly & decisively

    • Find opportunities to automate, and increase efficiency of reporting activities across DSIP

      • E.g. create and automate repeatable analyses or enable self-service for teams to access and digest their performance metrics

  2. Enable DSIP to generate future growth

    • Collaborate with Sr Director of Strategy & Integration to link established set of operational metrics to strategy and goals for FY20 and beyond

  3. Manage a team of 1-2 analysts to support the recurring reporting that occurs – weekly, monthly, quarterly, and on demand

  4. Must be able to apply critical thinking skills to understand the root of the problem and being able to communicate this across the organization; be hypothesis driven

  5. Build models and oversee  others’ model building and is able to sanity check and identify errors; and explain to analyses to non-analytical team members

  6. Collaboration - work cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders

  7. Influence without authority & mobilize resources to drive activities to timely closure

Qualifications

  • Required Work Experience: 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree; 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

  • Preferred Work Experience: 15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD or PhD)

  • Have 15+ years of experience in a fast-paced environment navigating ambiguity successfully, handling multiple tasks at once

  • Problem solver that can connect consistently connect dots across multiple workstreams

  • Consistently challenge status quo to ensure overall better outcomes

  • Believer that we can create lasting, better outcomes for our stakeholders across the globe

Work Hours:

  • Incumbent must make themselves available to support time zones from other regions on an as needed basis

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements: ​​​​​​

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
