About Merchant Sales & Acquiring (MS&A)

Merchant Sales & Acquiring is a team dedicated to serve the needs of our merchant and acquiring partners, achieving brand preference and volume growth by managing strategic relationships with our clients. Our focus is to ensure that they prefer Visa. We want our clients to see Visa as a trusted strategic partner that delivers tangible value and is easy to do business with. Our goal is to protect and grow payment volume and revenue contributions, while increasing the value our clients perceive as we balance the needs of all of our stakeholders. We are focused on building deeper relationships, working closely with other internal teams to help our partners by solving their complex and evolving payment needs, including mobile technologies, core product innovations, processing platforms & solutions, omni-channel experiences, expansion of access and usage, sales growth & customer loyalty, risk and fraud reduction and operational efficiency among others.

This is an individual contributor role responsible for identifying business development opportunities with focus on the South Cone market of Chile, working with Acquirers and other internal and external stakeholders. The role will be responsible for the execution of Grow Acceptance initiatives and the Merchant Sales & Acquirer (MS&A) business plan in these markets, in coordination with the LAC and Global hierarchy and corresponding strategies. Position will be located at the Visa office in Santiago de Chile, Chile.

Responsibilities

  • Develop alliances and agreements, and deepen client relations with Acquirers/Payment Facilitators and other stakeholders in the markets to achieve brand preference, including initiatives related to acceptance, new products, marketing and technology.
  • Support the implementation and execution of the MS&A Strategy for the market, including management of Grow Acceptance programs.   
  • Analyze market data and interact with other market teams to identify Merchant & Acquiring development opportunities in line with the plans.
  • Ensure coordination with internal teams for the execution of the acceptance activities.
  • Main accountability is for the implementation of the Acceptance Strategy, assuring expected results and proposing adjustments as deemed necessary as market conditions evolve.
  • Position will be responsible for managing the budget assigned to ensure implementation of plans is done on a timely basis and within available resources.

 

Reporting Relationships & Interactions

 

  • Position will report to South Cone MS&A GeoHead &  the Chile Country Manager.
  • He/she will interact internally with Sales, Products and Marketing teams, among others, and the MS&A Regional and Global teams.
  • Externally the position will interact with several stakeholders, mainly Acquirers, Payment Facilitators, and other Third Party Agents.
  • Knowledge and understanding of banking operations and/or payment schemes, including products & services, business systems & processes and card acquiring experience in the incumbent markets is desired. Business experience in the payments ecosystem is a plus.
  • Understanding of merchant acquiring business in particular is required.
  • Experience working with financial indicators to measure business performance including P&L responsibility.
  • Sales and/or Industry Management experience.
  • Excellent business planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and engage multiple levels of management in key decisions where required for the business.
  • Ability to identify key strategic issues and to generate and deliver creative and innovative solutions to problems and opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task numerous projects concurrently.
  • Ability to manage & grow internal and external resources and cross functional relationships.

Qualifications

  • Experience: at least 15+ years and relevant experience in Merchant Business, Fintech developments, financial institutions and retail business
  • Understanding of the payments business
  • Proven ability to deploy, mentor and manage business development
  • Working knowledge of payments network and processing service
  • Knowledge of the full breadth of acceptance and other products and services
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed business development quotas in payment industry or technology services, or related industries
  • Sales and Relationship management skills
  • Financial Transaction processing knowledge
  • Good oral and written communications (Spanish and English)
  • Experience in delivering strategies in the industry within Chile

Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
