Job Description

What’s it all about?

The Technical Programme Manager is a highly visible leadership and stakeholder facing position ensuring planning, execution and monitor/control processes are aligned for effective delivery of critical, customer facing, enterprise class software development and infrastructure projects.

The individual will be a proponent for change and will be Visa Payments Ltd Technical programme management representative at a global level, partnering with the central programme management function to develop and roll out program management and planning activities within the Belfast product development centre.

The individual will coach and guide teams through the software development life cycle using Agile, Scrum, and Lean methodologies and works cross-functionally throughout the company to ensure projects are effectively developed and deployed with quality and on time delivery into our production systems.

What we expect of you, day to day.

  • Responsible for technical programmes of work up to $30 million in value.
  • Responsible for planning, executing, tracking and managing schedule and scope across multiple projects.
  • Be the conduit for global program management/PMO and local project delivery.
  • In collaboration with other areas within Visa, identify and manage the risks associated with projects and programs to achieve project success.
  • Uses strong business and technical knowledge to implement solutions to impediments, keeping projects on track.
  • Works closely with other departments and partners to ensure on-time delivery of critical projects and programs.
  • Drives the adoption of key engineering practices like Innovation, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, etc. to improve quality and reliability of team's deliverables.
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring of team members on Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices.

 

    Qualifications

    For this role the key skills required are...

    • Significant demonstrable experience working with technical teams in the delivery of Enterprise class solutions.
    • Exceptional knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices.
    • Excellent ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects.
    • Exceptional communication and customer facing skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously with a high degree of competency.
    • Significant experience of working across multiple time zones with geographically dispersed teams to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Possesses strong influencing and facilitation skills to engage subject matter experts to define requirements, to challenge and to gain credibility on critical business issues at organisation and executive level.
    • Self-starter with exemplary organization and resolution management skills
    • Demonstrable experience of initiating and implementing change within a global organisation
    • Experience with Agile Application Lifecycle Management and development tools like Rally, Confluence Wiki and JIRA.

     

    Preferred Experience

    • Working knowledge and understanding of where Visa Payments products and services sit within the payments industry.
    • Experience with Agile Application Lifecycle Management and development tools like Rally, Confluence Wiki and JIRA.
    • Experience with online/ecommerce, payment processing, and/or financial systems.
    • Hands on Software Development Experience
