Job Description

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be a member of the worldwide Network Processing Test Engineer team, responsible for delivering quality services and solutions using best-in-class processes, methodologies, and technologies. As a Test Engineer, based in Foster City the successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of test engineering and software development principals, as well as teamwork skills, to assure quality in a fast-paced and highly complex environment.  This position will oversee and contribute to test processes and execution for a number of projects, often running in parallel.  The candidate must embrace teamwork and promote a culture of openness and flexibility with his/her business partners and the extended global team.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement around processes and technical capabilities

  • Perform a test leadership role over a number of small-to-large projects ensuring a comprehensive test strategy, test plan, clearly articulated test cases, and team productivity in execution.

  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts and ensure proper analysis and sizing of test efforts, defining success criteria and managing expectations.

  • Ensuring that testing and test activities comply with corporate policies and adhere to industry best practices.

  • Understand cross-functional dependencies and collaborate with other teams to meet end-to-end quality objectives.

  • Understand product and platform dependencies and help define end-to-end test environment and infrastructure needs.

  • Guide the team on multi-threaded project deliveries and mitigate quality risk exposure.

  • Be accountable for tactical day to day decisions including estimating, scheduling, test planning, execution, risk management and communication.

  • Foster partnerships with upstream and downstream teams including system analysts, architects, development, and product office or clients to ensure alignment and consistency in reducing product quality risk throughout the project life-cycle.

Qualifications

Basic

  • 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred

  • 3 or more years of work experience or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • 5+ years of software development and test experience, preferably in Electronic Payments.

  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle and test engineering processes and methodologies

  • Ability to deliver results on multiple projects in a complex, fast-moving environment.

  • Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions for test challenges and constraints.

  • Solid understanding of black box and white box testing, performance testing, test automation, requirements traceability and general test process reporting.

  • Java/J2EE and Services Oriented Architecture experience.

  • Experience in REST API testing

  • Working experience in XML/JSON/AngularJS/HTML

  • Strong knowledge of web services testing using SOAPUI Tool/Postman

  • Solid experience in designing, developing and maintaining automation frameworks and test suites using automation tools such as Cucumber/Ruby/Selenium.

  • Experience in automated cross-browser testing on various platforms.

  • Experience in an agile iterative environment including continuous integration and deployment.

  • Knowledge of secure development and testing practices.

  • Strong knowledge of database query tools and ability to write and run complex queries for data validation.

  • Experience in using industry standard test management tools (e.g.  ALM / Quality Center, Clear Quest, JIRA).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, client service and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time effectively and efficiently.

  • Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to multi task and handle multiple competing priorities with minimal direction from management.

  • Solid ability to collaborate with other individuals and co-ordinate activities across global teams.

Additional Information

Work Hours This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements This position requires the incumbent to travel for work less than 10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
