Job Description

The Senior Director, Dispute Systems Architecture will lead an architecture organization responsible for maintaining the Dispute platform technology strategy, roadmaps, architecture, and technology governance for VISA’s global dispute management system known as Visa Resolve Online. Visa Resolve Online (VROL) is a web-based application that enforces the rules and workflow of disputes. VROL is a mandated service that is crucial to the Visa brand promise of providing secure and reliable payment services by ensuring that cardholders, merchants, and issuing financial institutions have a clear dispute process and enabling technology, making resolution of disputed transactions fast and easy.


Reporting to Vice President of Dispute Processing, the senior director will also be responsible to lead a systems analysis organization responsible for managing requirements, working with business partners to define the scope of product enhancements, converting requirements into technology solutions and maintaining/developing mission critical interface specifications to be distributed to VISA’s member banks and payment processor globally. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the impact assessment for VROL program of projects that are primarily targeted to other visa systems.

This position is based in Foster City, California.

The Dispute Systems team is part of the Visa Network Processing organization which has responsibility for Authorization, Clearing and Settlement systems. The team is located globally across three cities in Singapore, Austin and Foster City. The role of the team is to advance the capabilities of the existing Dispute Systems including the creation of new functionality as well as modifications to existing functionality. Additionally the team oversees the technical and business architecture of the Dispute Systems including long term hardware and software architecture, capacity planning and the reliability and redundancy posture. The team manages automated test suites to fully validate and certify all changes prior to release. We also provide application release management, infrastructure hardening, security patching and defect remediation, security assessments, vulnerability remediation, audit support, open source governance and level 3 development support for client certification testing and production incidents. 

Qualifications

 

Basic

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Master’s / MBA/  PhD)
  • Previous experience in dispute processing systems is required.

Preferred

  • 15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD or PhD)
  • 12 to 15 years total experience with 5+ years of post-graduate experience in management consulting or corporate strategy preferred
  • Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry preferred
  • Experience in providing  mentoring, coaching/guidance to talented technologists
  • Experience managing a team of  10+ IT professionals including architects and analysts based in globally dispersed locations.
  • Ability to leverage the expertise in all locations and working to ensure seamless and coordinated practices are in place to achieve highest quality deliverable.
  • Ability to work closely with Strategy, Governance, and sourcing team to acquire or renew contracts for software / hardware components used in VROL
  • Conceive, plan, and conduct PoCs and provide solution design and service architecture for business projects and technology projects
  • Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, keeping in mind security, performance, reliability, scalability, usability, flexibility, and cost
  • Serving as key liaison between business and technology to ensure requirements driven by business are delivered to specification by technology teams
  • Ability to manage and develop team members within architecture and system analysis organization; setting clear, aligned goals and direction; delegating appropriately and regularly providing candid feedback and coaching to optimize strengths and build competency within the team.
  • Develop Vision, strategies and roadmaps to meet business objectives with existing or emerging technologies in your area by partnering with other stakeholders

Work Hours This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
