Job Description

What’s it all about?

Reporting to the Architecture, System and Network manager, the Linux System Specialist is responsible for all Linux based technology within Tech&Ops France department.

What we expect of you, day to day. 

  • Liaise with internal business and IT groups (such as database administration, infrastructure support, development) in performing support activities, system configuration and standard functionality analysis for enhancement requests.
  • Interface with external software vendors for product issue troubleshooting and resolution
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and communicate ideas for process improvements and training needs both for applications usage by customers as well as for internal processes and
    skills enhancement.
  • Responsible for operational excellence model and compliance of all Linux relative technology within Tech&Ops department.
  • Undertake the day to day ops maintenance and evolution for Linux based technology server according to service and security standards (such as Key Controls, PCI, …).
  • Provide expertise and technical analysis support to highlight solution that complies to Visa cybersecurity standard
  • Collaborate with other teams across the department or company  to spec and build solutions for their needs
  • Design, implement and evolve highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using relevant technologies
  • Provide expertise in triaging and troubleshooting of highly distributed services in production environment
  • Respond to and solve defects in a timely manner consistent with the business needs.
  • Act as the last line of escalation for technical support incidents
  • Implement automation of tasks and regular updates using various techs (pshell, bash script, vmware tools, git, …)
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and proactively assess and evaluate the adoption thereof into the organization
  • Ensure that all change record documentation is prepared and completed as required.
  • Represent the department, as a key Linux tech expert, in all audit, discussion or comitee

  • Educated to Master degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Extensive experience of Linux systems technologies and management 
  • Extraordinary experience of IT security
  • Firm understanding of company security policies (Internal Standard/PCI DSS) and how to build systems to adhere to them
  • Significant knowledge and interest for new technologies
  • Communication skills in French and English
  • Ability to multi-task and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Good knowledge of problems / incident / change management (ITIL method), and ability to look for and solve problems within critical business environment
