Job Description

Team Summary

Global Controllership is responsible for establishing Visa’s global accounting policies, providing technical accounting guidance to the business, processing accounting transactions globally and consolidating all Visa entities financial results. The team is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the Visa Inc. financial statements under U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and local statutory financial statements under IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)

What an Accounting Manager does at Visa:

  • Manage the accounting close process for AP to ensure high quality accounting accuracy, timely and meaningful reporting, and compliance to US GAAP, SEC and SOX requirements. This involves planning and reviewing the work of a team of accountants
  • Support, guide and monitor the business units’ conduct of business transactions to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, laws, policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the business, FP&A, Operations Support and other stakeholders to influence and drive issue resolution and initiate changes to enhance internal control and efficiency.
  • For the assigned geographic portfolio, lead the local statutory accounts preparation, audit to filing process, ensuring compliance, timeliness, efficiency and reconciliation with US GAAP numbers
  • Be the point person for both the US GAAP and local statutory financial statements providing the framework to ensure timeliness in compliance with both US and local GAAP and statutory requirements.
  • Perform Inter-company reconciliation and consolidation for the group
  • Performs quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting with no aged unreconciled accounts
  • Lead flux analysis review on balance sheet and income statement
  • Managing the independent financial statement audit including completion of audited financial statements and management discussion and analysis for all group entities falling under AP
  • Initiate and implement process changes to improve controls, work productivity or quality of work output.
  • Lead or participate in projects as assigned

The Accounting manager will perform the accounting and financial controlling for a portfolio of countries in the Asia Pacific region, ensuring timely and accurate capture of financial information/output necessary for effective management decisions, and in compliance with US GAAP, local statutory laws and accounting standards, corporate policies/procedures and key controls.

Lead monthly and quarterly accounting close process and consolidation. Demonstrated strong knowledge and experience with US GAAP and IFRS, along with in-depth experience in preparation of statutory financial reports and tax transfer pricing strategies.

Constantly challenge status quo and be a change agent with the objective of driving for efficiencies but not compromising on controls. This role will report into the Hub Accounting Director.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, CPA or equivalent required
  • Minimum 8-12 years relevant accounting experience in a multi-national publicly traded company or Big 4 public accounting firm
  • Familiar with US GAAP/IFRS and SEC requirements
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of consolidation and Financial close process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing, with stakeholders
  • Self-starter and ability to lead and drive projects independently
  • Ability to lead and manage people
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to instigate and support change.
