Job Description

What’s it all about?

The Settlement Reconciliations lead will be responsible for ensuring a complete end-to-end reconciliation is completed for all European Settlement Services, including intraday, end of day and next day bank reconciliations.

The role will also act as a back-up for the all Settlement Production roles and therefore should be adept in making SWIFT payments, be able to provide an excellent level of Customer Service when answering Client queries and requests, have knowledge of setting up drawdowns, and what would be required to update Client standard settlement instructions.

The Settlement function in Visa is undergoing a significant amount of change in the coming two years, as we replace our settlement technology platforms, including a payment hub, SSI retention tool, and reconciliation system. This role will be required to provide support, offer advice, and deliver on all aspects of the reconciliation system project.

 

What we expect of you, day to day.

Provide best in industry reconciliation service for Visa Europe, including intraday, end of day and next day bank reconciliations.

Manage liquidity decisions, including monitoring intraday bank account positions and chasing outstanding settlements to avoid overdraft positions and working with Visa Corporate Treasury to evaluate, consider and recommend when Visa (Europe Region) should invest/withdraw funds

Proactively investigate each outstanding position at the end of day and provide daily reporting to Treasury senior management, Treasurer, CFO and Client Settlement Risk.

Support and actively participate in all BCP testing to ensure 100% continuity of service

Question and drive changes in processes and procedures to ensure continual operational improvement

Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including:

  • Investigate and respond to queries from Clients and Visa’s Settlement Banks
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a positive and seamless Client experience
  • Willing to challenge and question the current processes to provide the best Client experience

Lead on all aspects of EU Treasury Management Information and assist with risk management decisions including:

  • Consolidation of data for monthly and ad hoc Treasury requirements Monthly creation and development of local and global Settlement presentations
  • Analyse settlement data on a daily basis prior to funds transfer and alert of any potential fraud
  • Manage SSI data across multiple applications: Authenticate, examine & enter Client information to banking portals and SSI system Interface to ensure daily settlement is accurate

Plan and carry out the implementation and testing for the reconciliation system in Europe, working closely with the North America team to ensure processes are best in class and consistent for each team across the globe.

Provide back up, assistance and support for all roles within the Settlement Production team.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Detailed understanding of SWIFT messaging and high volume bank account reconciliations
  • Experience working in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to self-motivate and work to deadlines
  • Experience with reconciliation tool implementations
  • Proven project experience and ability to understand deliverables along the chain
  • Evidenced ability to work under extreme pressure and deliver to tight timelines
  • Proven team player with a desire to assist others where needed and enable an efficient team with a cohesive atmosphere
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills: ability to understand and answer Client queries efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management skills
  • Possess treasury/banking experience in payment processing and reconciliation
  • Possess experience in a client-facing role.
  • High/advanced level excel skills

Desired

  • Experience working in a matrix organisation or in a regional office of a global organisation
  • Understanding of Client setup, BIN, BID and SRE hierarchies
  • Excel Macro coding
