Job Description

The Team
The Product team develops products and value propositions aligned to our clients’ customer strategies and business plans, supporting objectives such as achieving top of wallet credit acquisition and usage, and driving Visa account spend. The team has a clear focus on delivering thought leadership on retail and corporate banking product development, channel acquisition, onboarding, activation, and ongoing portfolio optimization utilizing Visa and industry resources.  The team ensures Visa and its clients adhere to regulatory changes related to Visa products.

The Role
Based in Melbourne, this role will support one of Visa’s key strategic clients in the region. The role is an integral member of the overall team supporting the client and has ownership of the product relationship between Visa and the client to ensure mutual product objectives of Visa and the client are met. The Director will consult on the development and subsequent execution of the client’s business strategies, plans, and projects which will deliver the optimal payments experience globally.  The Director is proactive in building and managing strong and influencing relationships with Visa Global, Asia Pacific HUB Product counterparts and local peers to bring Global Best Practice to the client.  The Director works with the client to prepare compelling business cases and potential investment opportunities in line with client and Visa objectives.  The Director is highly proficient in Product CVP design, origination and channel management strategies, onboarding and EMOB (Early month on book) practices, and ongoing portfolio and lifecycle management. The Director is highly competent in his or her knowledge across all Visa Products, but has access to and will call upon Visa Product SMEs where appropriate to support the client.

Responsibilities
As a dedicated product SME for one of Visa’s most valued clients, the Director will work closely with the Client Relationship Managing Team to support the client in the following ways:

  • Actively participate, drive and execute against client and Visa plan objectives through initiatives including but not limited to the following work across consumer credit, consumer debit, commercial, small business and prepaid: optimise current state of the business; CVP development and consulting; data analytics, tracking and reporting on acquisition, activation, spend and retention.  
  • Establish and maintain positive, beneficial, and constructive relationships with the client stakeholders.  
  • Facilitate and direct internal Visa operations in response to specific client requests and ensure delivery of support to our client as and when required.
  • Ensure ongoing assessment and development of CVPs across all products.
  • Initiate and manage product research for the client’s product teams through use of both client and visa analytical tools to make proactive recommendations to the client’s management.
  • Develop tool kits and comprehensive case studies demonstrating Visa best practices to the client.
  • Develop and manage product reporting for our client.
  • Perform onsite expert support to our client’s product management team, conducting portfolio performance reviews, trend analyses and the implementation of appropriate portfolio optimization actions.
  • Coordinate and present relevant business development and product implementation opportunities to the client.
  • Achieve specific product, volume and revenue targets.
  • Develop market analyses and product development strategies.
  • Develop and submit product strategy plans.
  • Bring global best practices and thought-leadership to initiatives and interactions with the client.
     

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 10 to 15 years of relevant commercial experience and will be expected to develop the following competencies in the role:

  • An understanding of the technical aspects of Visa’s products and solutions and how to adapt them product to customer needs. 
  • Deep understanding of Visa’s business and how our solutions fit within the context of our clients’ overall business.
  • Ability to understand how to conduct market, customer and competitive research to drive solution value propositions.
  • Ability to understand problems faced by customers and the goals they want to achieve. Be the key point of contact for the client as a trusted advisor on new products and services.
  • Ability to communicate key messages and engage with many diverse functional stakeholders. 

Skills Required

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
  • Understanding of the domestic payments landscape and key drivers opportunities and headwinds.
  • Demonstrated working experience in product management including product level P&L assessment and management.
  • Proven experience in and passion for the power of analytics to inform and drive strategy and tactics, and proven ability to generate insights from data.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio management practices across retail banking products.
  • Strong team orientation, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent detail orientation, ensuring the highest level of quality/rigor in reports and data analysis.
  • Commercial acumen, with experience in working on business/value cases that prove ROI
  • Extensive experience with development of card payments products 
  • Extensive experience delivering new and emerging payment solutions
  • Highly organized, systematic in approach, managing a large number of concurrent initiatives
  • Proven presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to progress multiple priorities concurrently.
