Job Description

What’s it all about?

This Manager role is in the Visa Direct Global Risk, Compliance and Policy team, which also has global responsibility for Visa Direct Cross-border Enablement. This team is part of the Global Visa Direct Ecosystem Readiness team.

Visa Direct is a high priority digital product, offering significant potential for new revenue growth and displacement of cash and bank transfer. Originators (senders) and Recipients (beneficiaries) derive value from real-time payment use cases such as:

  • Person-to-person payments and wallet payouts (eg. Facebook, Google, PayPal)

  • Cross-border remittances (Western Union, Moneygram, Transferwise)

  • Payouts to suppliers to marketplace apps (eg. Uber, AirBnb, Amazon)

  • Conventional disbursements (insurance, compensation claims, tax refunds)

Building a world-class security value proposition is critical to the success of Visa Direct, driving engagement and uptake by both originating and receiving clients, particularly for cross-border payments.  We reinforce Visa Direct security by establishing a comprehensive set of rules and policies for clients for use of Visa Direct transactions, including a program of approval for all new programs launched on Visa Direct.

In this role, you will work in a team responsible for development, interpretation and enforcement of rules and policies for clients using Visa Direct transactions, especially as new network models and use cases are introduced to the Visa ecosystem.  As you become expert, you could take on responsibility for key projects, establishing the Visa Direct rules and policies that ensure the safety and security of our ecosystem.

A significant part of your role will be managing and developing our Program Approval program, which is critical to ensuring that only originators and programs working to robust risk and compliance standards and compliant with our rules and policies can operate on the Visa Direct eco-system.

What we expect of you, day to day:

In your role in the Rules and Policy team, you would need to:

  • review new network models and use cases to determine how existing Visa rules and policies apply, and develop new rules and policies where needed in consultation with Risk, Legal, and AML Compliance teams across the company

  • interpret existing rules for stakeholders across the company and work with the rules team to either grant temporary exceptions to clients or enforce rules as necessary

Projects requiring rules and policy input may vary as needed by the business – typical current examples for illustration include:

  • development of new rules and risk controls for cross-border AFTs, specialized purchase transactions used to fund accounts and money transfers

  • development of innovative acquiring models for global partners, such as self-acquiring in selected jurisdictions

As Manager of the Program Approval program, you would need to :

  • Consult with risk, AML, and policy experts in the Visa Direct team on required approval processes

  • Work with our platform team to specify and drive delivery of new features and functionality for the program approval platform

  • Monitor and manage performance of approval teams (Product, AML Risk) in meeting the SLA, critical to achieving client launch targets

  • Communicate and train global stakeholders in the program approval process

  • Work with our monitoring team to identify and remediate programs that are not compliant with the terms of their approval

Qualifications

·     Basic Qualifications

  • 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree

  • Experience in a policy setting and/or a risk or compliance role would be preferred

  • At least 5 years’ experience in the payments sector, preferably in a program management, consulting and/or product management role

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively – both verbally and in writing
