Job Description

The mission of Global Data Center Engineering & Operations is to provide first class uninterruptible service to its partners and customers in a timely and professional manner. The goal of Data Center Operations is to maintain and provide the most reliable data center infrastructure at the lowest cost while supporting Visa's ever-changing business worldwide. Data Center Management ensures 100% availability and reliability of the infrastructure for processing across the enterprise.

The Director of Data Center Engineering and Operations will lead and manage multiple sites across APAC regions supporting all hardware platforms and associated cabling systems employed in Visa Data Center and colocation spaces. This position is responsible for the day to day operations and management of electrical & mechanical, hardware network installation, asset management, audit compliance, information management system and physical security of data center spaces across APAC regions. This position will also support global market expansion efforts in upcoming strategic local and global markets to support business growth and regulatory requirements. This position will lead and support both internal and external audit compliance activities. This position will report to Senior Director, APAC Lead, of Visa Global Data Center Engineering & Operations.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and leading multiple teams and multiple sites supporting all hardware platforms (open compute, storage, mainframe, firewalls, network) and associated cabling systems in compliance with TIA-942 standards
  • Responsible for ensuring all data center activities are performed without impact to the services with 100% availability and reliability following Global Data Center Standards, Incident and Change Management Process within ITIL framework
  • Responsible for owning and meeting Service Level Agreements with internal and external partners regarding uptime, availability, reliability, efficiency and cost.
  • Work closely with Global Data center Operations/Engineering leads and Sourcing Partners for Global Strategic & Tactical planning to support business growth by developing RFPs, review/ evaluate proposals, perform site assessments, design & implementation of operational sustainability, financial planning, resource management of build and IT deployment
  • Work with cross functional teams to define and execute on Data Center Infrastructure Support Strategies and communication across the teams
  • Work with executive management to develop and instill best practices and performance goals and strategy relating to Data Center Operations, Safety, Security, Availability, Scalability and Efficiency
  • Work with financial business partners to forecast budget and track spending to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Provide managerial leadership to a team of Data Center Engineering. Managing career management, goals, processes and development aligning with Visa Performance Management
  • Proactively share resources and information and provide support to team members to achieve work objectives
  • Lead/ Support internal as well as external Data Center Audit and compliance activities
  • Participate and perform governance related policies, procedures, key controls, etc

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Knowledge in the following areas: Data Center Power and Cooling Designs and Systems, Network Hardware Platforms (Open Compute and Storage platforms, SAN Storage, IBM Mainframe Topology, IP Network Topologies, Data Center design and IT Capacity Planning
  • Deep understanding and successful implementation of Industry Best Practices DC Operations and Standards, Uptime Tier Levels & Operational Sustainability Standards, TIA-942, BICSI
  • Data Center Related Certifications – CDCP, CDCDP/ CDCMP, ATS, DCS
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills along with the ability to represent technical and business solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support organizational strategies and structured cable design and implementation
  • Experience with Audit Compliance both internal and external
  • Vendor Management and management of financial planning, budget planning, approval and evaluating and monitoring vendor performance
  • Advanced level of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, VISIO, Project and SharePoint required
  • Knowledge of any Ticketing System (BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, etc.)
  • Highly organized, exceptional problem-solving skills, ability to multitask and manage competing priorities and excellent communication skills (including senior executive management)
  • Proven experience leading projects and delivering against commitments and timelines
  • Financial services and card payments experience is a plus. Knowledge of Visa’s financial, Annual Operating Plan, and Technology processes is a plus

Additional Information

Work Hours This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements This position requires the incumbent to travel for work less than 10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
