Job Description

We are looking for a Corporate Communications Director with the right mix of creativity, project management and writing skills to execute communications plans that enhance Visa’s reputation in North America with client stakeholders, such as financial institutions, merchants, and fintechs as well as Visa employees across the North America region. This individual will be part of the team bringing a new client thought leadership platform to life in addition to playing an important part in building Visa’s culture in North America, the company’s largest region. 

This role requires a dynamic, well-rounded team player who can manage proactive communications strategies and projects while attending to ongoing and late breaking issues. This leader will be able to flex across a variety of communications disciplines including thought leadership, messaging, executive visibility, client communications and internal communications and employee engagement. 

This position is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and will report into the Senior Director, North America Communications. This individual will work collaboratively with Visa’s Global Communications team, the Regional President of North America and US Leadership Team to develop local strategies and execute a range of activities. 

Responsibilities

Client Communications

  • Platform and content development for Visa Navigate North America, Visa’s client thought leadership platform. This individual will be on the project team responsible for bringing the platform to the North American region with a focus on platform management, measurement and content development. 
  • You will partner to create an ongoing editorial calendar for Visa Navigate North America hat is aligned with other regions and Visa’s overall editorial calendar and messages. Edit and develop content for site including stories, videos, case studies, and infographics.
  • You will work with the broader communications team to share story ideas and content to funnel into external digital and traditional media strategies and storytelling. 
  • You will help manage agency resources to ensure project is delivered on time and in budget. 
  • You will ensure key announcements and business issues are communicated to clients and the sales team effectively and in a timely manner through close partnership with communications partners and broader North America team. 
  • You will partner with global colleagues to ensure client facing materials are shared and distributed globally. Set best practices for client communications throughout the organization. 

Internal Communications

  • You will support and help build an identity for the new U.S. country manager.
  • You will serve as liaison for special projects in North America including I&D, wellbeing, Visa University, sponsorship and social impact.
  • You will support other key employee communications initiatives based on business and resource needs, such as the Return to Office workstream. 
  • Support the planning and execution of internal events including all-staff meetings, VPF, NALM, speaker series programs and other employee engagement events.
  • You will develop and storymine for North America business focused content on an ongoing basis for Visa's global employee intranet regarding business unit news, launches, employee spotlights, etc. while supporting the evolution of how we get content to North America employees (e.g. Insite page or other channels) and bringing creative ideas to the table. 
  • You will work closely with the global employee communications team to ensure seamless coordination between U.S./global initiatives.

Qualifications

Basic

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with a Master's Degree.  The primary focus of your work has been in the arena of corporate communications, working in a fast moving environment.   

Preferred

  • You have 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 10+ years of work experience with a Master's Degree.  
  • 8-10 or more years of your work is related to:  marketing, public relations or communications experience.  
  • Previous agency experience preferred.
  • You are experienced working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, results-orientated environment. 
  • You are skilled at making smart, quick decisions while juggling multiple priorities. 
  • "Hands-on" team player with outstanding project management and execution skills. You get it done, often on short deadlines.
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills. It is your forte!
  • Can blend traditional communications tactics with social media.
  • You are fluent in multi-channel campaigns including social, digital, earned and paid media.
  • You have a client-first mindset that can deliver quality results efficiently and effectively.
  • You have prior experience managing budgets and resources effectively. 
  • Ability to use data and metrics to inform planning and make decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and with blurry boundaries regarding roles/responsibilities.
  • You have a proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative.
  • Understands what it takes to get work executive-ready.
  • You have a keen attention to detail, polish and presentation. upstanding character, leadership, consistent execution and commitment to success.
  •  You are able to work remotely with limited supervision.
  • Ability to not take him/herself too serious and a sense of humor.
     

Additional Information

Physical Requirements:    This position will be performed in an office setting.    The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment (phones and computers), reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds

Travel Requirements:   The incumbent may be required to travel up up to 10% (post covid)
