Job Description

What’s it all about?

The Senior Account Executive will report to the Head of The Europe Merchant Partnership Business Development team. This individual will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Merchant Partnership Development plans across Visa’s Southern Cluster comprised of Spain, Italy and Portugal. 

The successful candidate will also work closely with the respective Heads of Merchant Sales & Solutions for the Southern-Europe (SE) region comprised of Spain-Italy-Portugal.  The role will also be responsible for one other European Cluster (yet to be defined). In this position, you will serve as the co-branding subject matter expert for both clusters, and deliver sales leadership on prioritized merchant deals including but not limited to co-branding, real-time payment solutions, and global partnership agreements. 

 

What we expect day to day:

  • Refine, execute and own the Merchant Partnership BD pipeline and strategy and identify potential de-novo co-brand merchants across each cluster, working closely with in market Merchant AEs, to build a credible sales pipeline for FY21-FY23
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to lead/facilitate all co-brand business development activities with merchants and issuers: prospecting, lead development and active selling for profitable new co-brand opportunities.
  • Expand existing merchant partnerships through the cross selling of non co-brand Visa products and services where appropriate and lead negotiations for prioritized deals to deliver mutually beneficial agreements
  • Initiate co-brand contract renewal activity with co-brand programs to secure current Visa co-brand volume at acceptable returns and evaluate and optimize existing co-brand programs to deliver growth for Visa and its partners, positioning Visa strongly for program renewals
  • Lead the execution and delivery of co-brand agreements including the program design, product launch, program marketing, and support activities such as analytics and contract management.
  • Manage existing clients including commitment tracking, financial and key metric reporting, management of co-brand materials, and utilization of the Salesforce.com CRM tool where appropriate

Qualifications

What we're after..

  • Relevant Bachelor´s degree/MBA or equivalent professional experience
  • Deep global payments industry expertise, knowledge and extensive experience of sales, product strategy and multinational management experience.  Proven track record of successful sales and relationship management with proven ability to interact at the ‘C’ level executives within client organisations
  • Proven track record launching and growing co-brand programs in relevant industries such as airline and retail is a requirement of this role.
  • Consulting experience, consumer loyalty and/or coalition loyalty experience is desired.
  • Proven ability to manage & grow internal and external resources and cross functional relationships across multiple markets and the ability to negotiate business agreements and develop new business partnerships with merchants
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required, with a high proficiency in Spanish, another language would be a benefit but not essential
