Job Description

Team Summary

Reporting to the Regional Risk Officer, the Risk Strategy & Operations team is responsible for:

  • driving general Risk Strategy for AP to protect Visa and promote trust in the ecosystem
  • supporting the effectiveness of the Regional Risk Officers in the markets through all Risk related regulation, innovation, analytics and initiative execution
  •  managing risk for the Global Issuing and Acquiring clients, and liaising with Global Risk and AP regional cross functional teams

 What an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Regulatory Risk Director does at Visa

The Director ERM & Regulatory Risk will lead Enterprise Risk Management and Regulatory Risk for Visa Asia Pacific, assisting the AP Risk team in building a more strategic, dynamic and productive organization.

Specifically, on Enterprise Risk Management, she/he will:

  • Execute regionally on Enterprise Risk Management initiatives as agreed with Global Risk and AP regional leadership
  • Lead market level and sub-regional risk assessments, adding strategic value to Country Managers, Group Country Managers (GCMs) and Regional President
  • Provide comprehensive reporting on Asia Pacific Top Risks, offering insights to AP Leadership Team, Global Risk and Visa Executive Leadership
  • Facilitate the Quarterly AP Regional Risk Committee, being responsible for consistent execution and governance of this important forum
  • Facilitate the Quarterly AP Control Scorecard ensuring the AP business accurately and consistently report on performance and progress against key control environment scorecard actions
  • Perform second line oversight of the New Business Impact Assessment (NBIA), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programs across AP
  • Ensure in-market Chief Risk Officers and their direct reports are enabled to be the trusted voice Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, taxonomies and processes.

Specifically, on Regulatory Risk, she/he will:

  • Set up and own the regional framework for identifying, monitoring, and managing supervisory relationships, coordinate Global input/responses for regulatory reporting obligations and inquiries from regulators, which continues to increase across the AP region.
  • Partner with business and functional teams to engage with government stakeholders, to foster sound conditions to operate across the region, obtain Visa operating licenses in key markets (as necessary), and maintain compliance with requirements to secure/renew Visa’s local operating licenses.
  • Ensure regulatory requests are addressed in a timely and consistent manner, and proactively manage multiple inquiries and coordinate deliverables to meet expectations of regulators and internal clients (for example, Government Engagement, Legal, Compliance, Products, Finance)
  • Create insights on regulatory and supervisory topics for effective business response and mature risk governance practices in the region to support supervisory engagements and to manage the growing interest from multiple regulators
  • Provide regular and ongoing reporting, metrics and information related to regulatory and supervisory management, and support RRO in identifying key regulatory and supervisory topics to disclose to the regional leadership team.

Qualifications

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in one of the following functions: Corporate/Risk Governance, Risk
  • Management, Compliance, Audit, Regulatory Management, Legal or related areas
  • Experience with regulatory management (direct or indirect)
  • Experience in payments or banking or related segments, or alternately, good understanding of payments business and associated risks
  • Understanding of current and emerging payment system regulatory trends in Asia Pacific
  • Full ownership, goes beyond the minimum requirements, not a “check-the-box” mentality
  • Positive, proactive, solution oriented problem solver who gets things done within a matrix organization
  • Experience in preparing, and reviewing, and delivering (concise) executive level communications

  • Be well versed with local regulations and guidelines related to risk management for cards, networks, financial institutions, digital payments industry
  • Have knowledge of supervisory risk challenges in the (digital) payments industry
  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Capable of comfortably leading meetings, delivering presentations and interact with all hierarchy levels
  • Able to multi-task and pursue multiple initiatives simultaneously

Projects you will be a part of:

As the ERM and Regulatory Risk lead for Visa Asia Pacific, you will be a key member of the Asia Pacific Risk Team, advising the AP Regional Risk Officer (RRO) and AP regional risk leadership team, hub & global functional leads on strategies related to complex operational, financial, legal and regulatory risk exposures.

The delivery of these initiatives will require close collaboration with senior leadership in the region and with stakeholders in Global Risk, Compliance, Controllership, Legal and Government Engagement.
