Job Description

Visa’s CyberSource division is looking for a savvy individual with a technical bend and interest in product ownership to help us continue to grow and launch new features and services. The Technical Product Analyst (TPA) is a hands-on role where you will have to analyze technical artifacts, study payment processor specifications, and write user stories for our engineering and test engineering teams to build features and products that delight our merchants, partners, consumers, and developers. The TPA is also expected to write programming pseudo-code in a home grown tool that translates business rules into technical specifications that enable our merchants to transact with payment processors worldwide. The successful candidate will work closely with business product managers, engineers, architects, user experience, and global cross-functional counterparts.

Essential Functions:

  • Be hands-on with describing business rules as technical artifacts for analysts, business product managers, and any functional team that depends on this information
  • Define business rules in a proprietary tool using a proprietary language, perform unit tests, resolve bugs and be responsible for the delivery of the project to production
  • Be comfortable looking at system logs when needed and identifying bugs when they might appear during course of analysis
  • Work with technical product managers and business product managers to understand the requirements and receive technical specifications
  • Work with architects and engineers to come up solutions addressing business needs
  • Analyze technical specifications and create user stories for engineering and test engineering teams
  • Be the product owner for the scrum teams driving project execution
  • Maintain the metrics for the product/capabilities
  • Highly execution focused by working in conjunction with various counterparts
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings
  • Be the primary liaison between other business units, BU product managers, engineering and other applicable groups to ensure flawless integration of new and existing feature sets

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of work experience or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • Prior experience as a test engineer, software engineer, business analyst, product manager, or system analyst is required
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 1 year of experience with an advanced degree (e.g. MS, MBA)
  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills through prior projects
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment and with cross-functional and regionally distributed teams
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate business opportunities, requirements, and customer problems
  • Basic understanding or interest in REST, SOAP, or other API technologies is required
  • Basic understanding of version control systems is preferred
  • Ability to understand technical design specifications described in UML or other business process notation is desired
  • Experience within a technology or financial services company is desired

Additional Information

Work Hours This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
