Job Description

What’s it all about?

The Southern Europe Finance Team for Continental Europe provides financial planning, analysis and decision support to Italy, Spain and Portugal. We are the liaison point for finance activities and insights relating to these areas.

FY 2021 will be a critical and exciting time to join the team, as Southern Europe implements its strategy to grow the business, increase cash penetration and generate and sustain new payment flows, while withstanding the shocks of Covid. 

The role would be responsible to ensure, together with the cluster deal lead, that Account Executives prepare robust investment proposals/ pricing packages to be offered by Visa Europe small and large banks in Italy and Portugal. The role holder will need to engage directly with the client to clarify the clients’ requirements and constantly engage with sales teams to provide best in class offers. The role will need to communicate complex client requirements together with portfolio analysis and summary findings to relevant stakeholders in the Region and the HQ.

In addition, this role will be part of the deal excellence team for the cluster and will need to develop deal process improvements and maintain local governance process ensuring that client facing teams adhere to Client Incentive Operating Standards.

Moreover, the role holder will need to work with the Legal team in understanding key regulatory and contractual terms that must be adhered to in determining the acceptability of deals.

Finally, this role will need to develop and maintains Accountable for building / forecasting CI budgets and commenting variances to budget/PY in the P/L and for CIA’s. This role is will also be responsible for the analysis and forecasting of over $15m of annual investments in Italy and for providing financial support and steer to help shape the strategy of the market, and may be involved in ad-hoc M&A transactions if required.

This is a hands-on role requires strong commercial acumen with the desire and ability to challenge the status quo to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and performance of the function.
The role holder will be a member of the Finance Team for the SE cluster.

  • Fluency in English and Italian. Spanish and Portuguese are a plus.
  • Business Partnering experience with progressively increasing responsibilities.  Ability to build and cultivate effective relationships with senior executives and stakeholders within the business and the Finance function at a regional and global level
  • Experience on deal structuring and modelling.
  • Strong commercial focus with a proven record of analysing business performance, identifying trends and issues, and challenges the norm
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigour, and the ability to interpret trends, identify issues and recommend actions
  • Data analytics experience and application of data tools (R, Python, SQL) to large data sets desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with business leaders in regional functions
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities
  • Proven self-starter
  • Experience of finance systems and advanced user of Microsoft Office programmes desirable
  • MBA / Post graduate degree from top tier academic institution desirable
  • Broad understanding of the payment landscape and VISA products and solutions are a plus
