Job Description

What's it all about?

Visa continues to invest in business to business payments, across the small business, middle market and large market segments, deploying new virtual and digital solutions in domestic and cross border transactions. B2B Travel, travel intermediaries such as Online Travel Agents using commercial cards to pay their supply-Chain, is an important sector and requires a specific acceptance strategy. Working closely with the Global Merchant Sales and Acquiring team who are dedicated to serving the needs of our merchant and acquiring partners. We want our clients and merchants to see Visa as a trusted strategic partner that delivers tangible value and is easy to do business with. Our actions are designed to protect and grow payment volume and revenue contributions.

Globally, Visa has significant opportunity within the B2B travel sector where some key merchants do not accept electronic payments via certain channels or where there is significant volume which is not on card today. The role of the Global B2B Travel Acceptance Director is to create a global strategy to increase Visa acceptance and market parity among travel suppliers (airlines, hotels).  Key to this role will be partnering with local Visa clusters, MS&A, merchants, acquirers, and other aggregators to bring those business plans to market. The role will report to the Global Head of B2B Travel and will lead the global B2B Travel acceptance team

Driving new acceptance channels is a key pillar in Visa’s growth strategy and the ideal candidate will bring passion for and interest in payments, client-facing skills and presence, and will enjoy working collaboratively across functions creative problem solving, and have an entrepreneurial mindset

 

What we expect, day to day:

  • Create and deliver a new Global B2B Travel Acceptance Strategy: You will have responsibility to create and implement the Global B2B travel Acceptance strategy to expand Visa acceptance amongst travel suppliers :
    • Identify and size the opportunity for B2B Travel propositions that leverage core commercial product capabilities including: B2B Travel product (ID X) and Corporate T&E and Business debit and prepaid solutions
    • Develop a detailed understanding of Visa commercial issuing and Visa acquiring solutions, as well as the merchant’s own technology and operating environments.
    • Identify and prioritise merchants for acceptance expansion
    • Understand and take into account regional and national differences in the way merchants operate
    • Track and monitor growth in volumes, identifying and fixing issues and managing objections
    • Develop and maintain reporting on progress with merchant acceptance. Deliver this information to multiple external and internal stakeholders. 

Drive revenue generating outcomes: 

               o   Develop and maintain a close understanding of merchants that support this sector, the relevant Visa solutions, applicable Regulation, and the complexities of the B2B travel market and be Visa’s SME

              o   Establish a strong culture of merchant satisfaction with Visa solutions and exceed their expectations, including products and support from Visa.

              o   Make Visa the preferred scheme in all markets in this vertical

·        Establish strong internal and external partnerships: You will establish strong global internal and external partnerships. 

             o   Collaborate with Visa clusters MS&A and external partners (merchants, aggregator etc.) to deliver new and compelling solutions and support their delivery

            o   Be a strong external advocate for Visa and Visa solutions. Represent Visa at external forums in the travel industry and be a widely known subject matter expert.

           o   Scope, manage and deliver research projects to collate data from multiple internal and external sources. Create insight and information to inform Visa’s acceptance strategy and turn data into insights that can be leveraged internally and by our acquiring clients.

          o   Engage with global Visa teams to feedback B2B Travel specific requirements and ensure that acceptance product propositions are attractive to B2B Travel merchants.

Qualifications

What we're after..

  • Extensive experience with Airline and/or hotel payment card acceptance or Airline revenue optimisation is critical, with a proven history of delivering alliances or commercial deals.
  • Previous experience in the cards and payments industry will be important, specifically with a track record in developing client relationships and sales partnerships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across functions and geographies in a complex matrix environment. Be a clear and confident presenter with experience in conferences and forums. Effective influencing and communication skills to secure buy-in from clients and stakeholders.
  • Analytical, problem solving and project management skills. Strong financial skills with a deal orientation will be important.
  • A team player who is able to develop strong internal and external relationships ensuring uptake and delivery of Visa solutions
  • Previous leadership experience is required
