Job Description

As a senior test automation engineer, you will be part of our HR & Learning Enablement Technology team to help deliver world class software for our business partners. You will report to the engineering manager and work as an individual contributor participating in designing and development of software. This role will have collaboration with business partners, multiple Visa IT teams and third-party vendors. The portfolio includes SaaS and hosted packaged applications such as Workday, Cornerstone, ADP, SmartRecruiters, ServiceNow, and some homegrown solutions. The candidate will be able to easily understand business requirements and be forward thinking to identify problems that may be effectively resolved with technology solutions. Additionally, this position provides 8x5 application administration and user support services; working primarily with business users to provide technical support and coordinate timely and effective resolution to questions and issues associated with the HR & Learning Systems integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the test effort from planning to delivery. Develop effective test strategies.
  • Write and contribute to test plans and/or test cases in medium to large sized projects
  • Review Functional QA Test cases to identify automation opportunities and to remove redundancy
  • Advocate and educate product/project teams on test design, automation framework use and implementation. Work with those teams to evaluate test-ability of new features/implementations.
  • Use your knowledge of testing in defining acceptance criteria and test\ability to influence better software design, promote best engineering practices, bug prevention strategies, testability, and other quality attributes across products.
  • Continually work to incorporate automated tests into our CI and CD deployment pipeline
  • Perform creative exploratory testing of new features and products
  • Provide critical feedback to Software Engineers and product managers to improve existing and new features and capabilities
  • Work with project teams highlighting and detailing any risks and assumptions identified
  • Actively engage in the continuous improvement of testing practice with a focus on speed, quality and innovation
  • Build working relationships with global and virtual teams on software development

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree
  • Excellent knowledge on Open Source Automation Framework tools (Selenium, TestNG and similar tools)
  • Experience with the Microsoft .Net core, C# coding and the Visual Studio IDE and TFS
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and TSQL
  • Proven experience working with technologies such as XML, XSD, XSLT, WSDL, XPath, JSON and SOAP/REST Web Services and Web technologies
  • Experience with Transport protocols including MQSC, WCF, FTPs, HTTPs, SMTP, LDAP
  • Strong API & UI Automation, Integration testing
  • Experience working effectively with business and IT staff in multiple locations and in a multinational environment is very strongly preferred
  • Strong follow-through, ability to drive to closure and resolution of complex system issues. Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb, analyze, and understand new information, technologies, and practices quickly
  • Exceptional communication and customer facing skills, able to interact effectively with diverse groups of global stakeholders, both technical and business users. Active listener, customer focused, relationship builder, team player
  • Product quality conviction, maintain Software standards and best practices, evangelize best practices, Supportability awareness, Non-functional awareness.

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds. 

Work Hours:

The incumbent will be expected to work during core business hours 

Travel Requirements:

The incumbent will be expected to travel <5%
