Job Description

Visa has the world’s largest consumer payment transaction dataset.  We see data on over 100 billion transactions per year from all over the world. We use that data to help our clients in the payment ecosystem grow their businesses and to help consumers access a fast, safe, and rewarding payment experience. Visa Predictive Models (VPM) team develops and maintains predictive machine learning models to primarily support Visa Global Data Products, Security and Identity Products, and Cardinal Commerce. Using mostly VisaNet data and leveraging Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), our model scores help Visa clients all over the world for fraud defense, identity verification, smart marketing, credit underwriting, etc. Through our models and services, VPM fuels the growth of Visa clients, generates and diversifies revenues for VISA, greatly improving Visa Card customer experience and their financial lives.

Within VPM, the Model Innovation Team is responsible for exploring and adopting cutting-edge and emerging advancements, new tools, and technologies to continuously drive our Model Innovation agenda. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Head of Model Innovation, you will:

  • Identifying, evaluating, and deploying new Machine Learning tools and new data sources (internal and external), and driving adoption in production modeling
  • Conducting research in latest and emerging modeling methodologies and technologies (e.g., Deep Neural Networks, Graph Modeling) and promoting adoption in production modeling
  • Conducing model Proof of Concept (POC) to support new product development
  • Partner with a cross functional team of Product Manager, Software Engineers and Platform Engineers to bring POC to production (e.g., Risk Based Authentication, Real Time Payment Analytics)
  • Build and validate predictive models with advanced machine learning techniques and tools such as Deep Neural Networks to drive business value; interpret and present modeling and analytical results to non-technical audience
  • Manage model risks in line with Model Governance requirements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or equivalent in a quantitative or engineering field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operation Research)
  • Master’s Degree with 7 years of relevant work experience or PhD Degree with 5 years of work experience
  • At least 5 years of experience with production model development, implementation, and support
  • At least 2 years of experience with deep neural network (e.g., RNN, CNN, LSTM), and graph modeling
  • At least 2 years of experience in Agile development and Project Management
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and techniques
  • A strong innovation leader but still practical to create real business value
  • Must be a team-player and capable of handling multi-tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent business writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills to technical as well non-technical audiences
  • Experience with Payment Fraud or Real Time Payment Analytics is a plus

 Technical Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python data analysis and modeling
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Proficiency in Spark
  • Experience with script and shell programming in Unix/Linux
  • Experience with using GitHub for data science projects

Work Hours:

This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours

Travel Requirements: 

This position requires the incumbent to travel for work less than 5% of the time

Mental/Physical Requirements:

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
