Job Description

<p>We are developing and executing a shared strategic vision for our <strong>Payment Security</strong> checkout products that securely supports the latest payment methods in a flexible and frictionless way. As a <strong>Senior Engineering Manager</strong>, you will build and mentor a world-class team of engineers to define, drive and execute on this vision. You will initiate processes that allow the team to collaborate with local as well as global teams with a high degree of efficiency. You will lead a team of highly motivated and talented individuals that collaborate with Project Managers, Product Managers and SMEs across the company on high impact initiatives.</p><p>In this role, you will be leading a team(s) responsible for building and enhancing the Secure Acceptance product set which may include Secure Acceptance, Flex and Unified Checkout Integration as we stay ahead of the payment trends. You will build upon your experience in large volume, low-latency, high-throughput APIs capable of handling tens of millions of transactions every day.</p><p>You will build an inclusive environment that attracts, retains and inspires a diverse and engaged team. As a leader, you will enable your team to achieve predictable and balanced results that not only meet business objectives but also adhere to our core Engineering Strategy practices.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Develop and nurture team(s) of developers by <strong>motivating</strong> and <strong>mentoring</strong> and assisting in hiring critical talent.</li><li>Be responsible for the <strong>overall development life cycle</strong> of the solution and manage complex products with significant bottom-line impact.</li><li>Execute the <strong>technical roadmap </strong>for Secure Acceptance initiatives by managing all technology aspects of development.</li><li>Be the ambassador for engineering best practice across the development lifecycle and champion <strong>Continuous Improvement</strong> across the site.</li><li>Be an evangelist for <strong>Test-Driven Development</strong> and <strong>Continuous Deployment</strong>.</li><li>Collaborate with System Architects and Senior Technologists on proper architecture and design practices for building a high-throughput, low-latency, multi-tenant platform.</li><li><strong>Work to maximise the team's efficiency, productivity and performance.</strong></li><li>Drive <strong>end-to-end development efforts</strong> with on-time, on-budget and high-quality solutions that are scalable in a high-volume environment (multimillion transactions per day).</li><li>Identify ways to help us move faster in how we meet the needs of our customers.</li><li>Be able to understand and influence System Design by collaborating with <strong>Developer Platform, Operations and Infrastructure (O&I), Security </strong>and<strong> Data Privacy</strong> stakeholders.</li><li>Drive a strong <strong>customer-focused mindset</strong> by working closely with Product partners and Regional Client teams while anticipating trends and patterns that may lead to new business opportunities.</li><li><strong>Security</strong> is at the core of Visa and central to everything we do. <strong>Lead by example</strong> to encourage and drive the security mindset.</li><li>Understand product needs and <strong>coach</strong> <strong>team</strong> in coming up with solid delivery and execution plans while adhering to engineering best practices.</li><li>Drive a culture of <strong>accountability</strong> and <strong>transparency</strong> by using data and metrics to drive change.</li><li>Be a good <strong>communicator</strong> that asks the right questions and facilities streamlined information flow between engineering, Product Office, PMO, Operations and other stakeholders.</li><li>Have a <strong>clear vision</strong> and <strong>strategy</strong> for the team and relay the strategy in easy to understand terms.</li><li>Understand <strong>career</strong> <strong>aspirations</strong> of engineers and support them for success.</li></ul>

Qualifications

<ul><li>Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related discipline.</li><li>Experience of running projects that span distributed teams across multiple timezones. </li><li>SME knowledge of Payments and eCommerce is desirable.</li><li>SME Knowledge of project management principles and Agile development methodologies. </li><li>Experience in diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory. </li><li>Demonstrate thorough attention to detail, ability to think analytically and independently. </li><li>Ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects. </li><li>Hands-on experience of technical implementations of large scale, highly available, robust web/mobile and Payment Services applications. </li><li>Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency. </li><li>Strong communication and customer facing skills. </li><li>Self-starter with strong organization and resolution management skills, and ability to work independently.</li><li>Experience with Agile Application Lifecycle Management and development tools like Rally, Confluence Wiki and JIRA. </li></ul>
