Job Description

The Sr. Manager is part of the Small Business Client Enablement team, working with financial institutions and other partners that issue Visa’s Small Business Credit and Debit products in the U.S.  We are Small Business subject matter experts, bringing clients insights and solutions that help them drive value in their small business portfolios.

This role will support a group of existing clients, with a focus on driving profitable growth for both clients and Visa.  That involves providing insights on product and market trends, making recommendations to improve portfolio performance, and thinking creatively about growth strategies and product improvement opportunities.  It also involves understanding Small Businesses' payment needs, and identifying opportunities where Visa products, solutions, and services can help our clients to better serve their customers. 

The Sr. Manager will be the primary Small Business lead for their portfolio of clients, with support from Sr. Directors on the team. The role may also participate in business development efforts with new clients.

Our team works closely with internal and external partners, requiring strong collaboration and influencing skills to drive results in a matrix environment. 

You can be in the New York City or San Francisco Bay Area location. 

Position Scope:

  • Serve as lead subject matter expert for assigned portfolio of key Small Business credit and debit issuer clients – engage issuers in Visa’s Small Business strategy, product offerings, and initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver regular portfolio performance reviews to clients – including analysis of business metrics and updates on market and industry trends.  Provide issuer-specific findings and recommendations.

  • Collaborate with other Visa teams to bring holistic insights and solutions to clients – work with Account Executives, Visa Consulting & Analytics, Marketing, Client Services, and others, and to develop and execute annual strategic plans and key initiatives.

  • Participate in, or lead, cross-functional projects to improve clients’ portfolio performance and/or design and implement new products and services.

  • Identify and close new Small Business sales opportunities with clients – including products, platforms, partnerships and services.  These initiatives may be executed through formal RFPs or ad-hoc sales conversations during ongoing engagement with the client.

  • Work with stakeholders within the Visa ecosystem to support the build of new Small Business product & platform enhancements, or new capabilities through third-party partnerships.  Be the voice of the issuer and the Small Business cardholder.

  • Lead co-brand efforts as required, including driving the value of Visa Small Business with potential and existing merchant co-brand partners and Visa co-brand teams.  Activities may include product launch or expansion exploration, RFP responses, product value proposition and portfolio optimization.

  • Lead various ad-hoc internal projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 5 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3+years of experience with a PhD
  • Ability to interpret data and translate findings into strategic insights and actionable recommendations
  • Strong analytical skills and business case development experience
  • Proven relationship-based sales / business development skills
  • Experience presenting to and building relationships with senior management level audiences, both internally and externally
  • Ability to identify and lead sales process both formal (RFPs) and informal
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross functional areas to influence and achieve consensus on goals and objectives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to drive results
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint Skills

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
