Job Description

Visa is looking for a Director of Global Brand Communications to help bring Visa's brand to life through campaigns such as: Visa's women's economic advancement program (She's Next), Small Business, Brand/Marketing and Sponsorships. The right candidate will have a passion for purpose-led business initiatives, high-impact storytelling, and an ability to creatively use Visa's sponsorship platforms in ways that support Visa's largest business priorities. Visa is the only brand in the world that is a major sponsor of the NFL, FIFA, Olympics/Paralympics and US Soccer Federation, and each presents an opportunity to execute high-visibility communications campaigns.

This candidate will play a key role in managing overall communications planning, media relations, events, speaking engagements, and collaboration with both global communications colleagues and cross-functional communications partners (i.e., employee, client, product, etc.). The ideal candidate will exhibit a clear understanding of the changing media landscape, strong research and problem-solving skills, creative thinking, project management expertise, a global mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Global and NA Communications support for Women's Economic Advancement, Small Business, Brand/Marketing and Sponsorships
  • Support Women- and Small Business-focused activities at a campaign level from across multiple business teams across Visa
  • Develop relationships with key influencers and media following small business, technology, marketing and sports marketing trends and work directly with internal clients and partner communications teams
  • Build and execute communications plans, taking ownership of strategy, planning as well as tactics and outcomes
  • Work with Visa's broader regional communications team around the world, informing them of developments and announcements that can be used across multiple regions
  • Build strong internal relationships with business partners and communication colleagues
  • Train executives as required on message development and presentation delivery
  • Assist with budget tracking, opening scope of work requests, managing and reconciling purchase orders and complete timely receiving in accordance with Visa policies
  • Experience turning data/research into storytelling
  • Assist in creation of written materials, including but not limited to: news releases, blog posts, fact sheets, executive briefing materials, opinion pieces, and related campaign assets
  • Collaborate with the corporate digital content team to leverage social media channels to amplify campaigns and support core media relations activities - have a digital first mindset
  • Work with partners to manage third-party initiatives and announcements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years public relations experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD, ideally with a mix of agency and internal positions experience
  • You are creative, curious, positive and high-energy individual with an ability to execute
  • Highly effective project management skills and proven track-record of managing projects within a highly matrixed organization or teams
  • You are comfortable collaborating - you're at home working with cross-functional teammates whether they sit in marketing, legal or government relations
  • You are a proactive self-starter - doesn't wait for direction
  • Inquisitive with strong independent, can-do attitude
  • Experience working on large campaigns/events that require cross-functional collaboration
  • You have exceptional writing and editing skills
  • You are effective at problem solving
  • Excellent verbal communication, including interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Sense of humor and passion to do great work!

 

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
