Job Description

What's it all about?

The Central Finance Team for Continental Europe provides financial planning, analysis and decision support to the Continental European markets and European business divisions. We are the liaison point for finance activities and insights relating to these areas.

The Partnerships Finance Business Partner & Analytics Lead plays an integral role within Finance dedicated to the Partnerships team. The role is equal parts focused on financials and data analytics, with an aim to drive performance management, strategy, and business planning processes. The role has a dual reporting line to the Partnerships Strategy & Planning Lead and the Continental Europe Head of Central Finance.

The Partnerships team is responsible for Visa’s relationships with global companies and platforms driving innovation in payments and consumer experiences. Its scope is Digital Partners, Fintechs and Issuer Processing clients. With these critical industry players, the team identifies, structures, and closes deals to pursue opportunities. It manages the rollout of global partners in Europe including Apple, Google, Samsung, Facebook, etc. and oversees account management, development and commercial program delivery for partners headquartered in the region. 

Overall accountabilities

Everyone is a leader at Visa, and you will be building on the team’s analytical skills and business knowledge, sharing your subject matter expertise, and acting in a mentorship capacity where appropriate.

Finance Business Partnering

  • Financial performance tracking – Scope, structure and manage delivery of financial reports that allow business to measure performance, strategy implementation and profitability across key accounts. Lead reviews of performance, and deep dive into client-level performance where needed.
  • Budgeting – Manage annual budget submission, including view of prioritization based on performance and potential, and manage ongoing spend and budget requests throughout the year
  • Country-level socialization – You will support the team in proactively alerting market teams about potential impacts to their individual P&Ls (e.g. new deals, trends in performance)

Planning, Analysis & Insights

  • Drive prioritization – help Partnerships make business cases for investment and prioritize the team’s opportunities and investment requests
  • Bring rigor to sales pitches to make them more effective and help team hit sales and revenue targets
  • Deep dive into key business trends and performance drivers to provide new insights and influence business strategy
  • Identify trends in data (e.g. fraud, approval rates) that suggest prospecting opportunities for Visa’s value added services products
  • Apply data techniques and return on investment approaches developed in the team to track client profitability and drive value in kind and client incentive strategies
  • Support delivery of the multi-year planning exercise which involves providing revenue and incentive projections. Includes forecasting client-level performance of upcoming deals and initiatives
  • Lead ad-hoc strategic financial planning exercises, including ‘What-If’ scenario analysis and responses to multi-year revenue and expense challenges
  • Clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives, external business partners, and Finance counterparts in other functions and regions

  • Become a team leader by working closely with Partnership leadership team and cross-functional teams that support deal-related engagement (e.g. Sales Operations, Commercial Contract Management)
  • Break down silos and build free-flowing communication by engaging with colleagues across Visa, ensuring they are appropriately involved and informed about opportunities and issues
  • Become a Partnerships ambassador within the organisation by sharing knowledge and insights across the organisation, including with in-market teams

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in driving forward complex initiatives and managing cross-functional delivery
  • Business Partnering experience with progressively increasing responsibilities. Ability to build and cultivate effective relationships with senior executives and stakeholders within the business and the Finance function at a regional and global level
  • Commercial focus with a proven record of analysing business performance, identifying trends and issues, and challenges the norm. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor, and the ability to interpret trends, identify issues and recommend actions
  • A proactive, critical thinker that is able to set scope and structure work to meet deadlines and allow for changes. A curious mind. Always looking out for new creative solutions and ways of doing things
  • Data analytics experience and application of data tools (R, Python, SQL) to large data sets desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a "peer" with business leaders in regional functions
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities. Proven self-starter.
  • Experience of finance systems and advanced user of Microsoft Office programmes is desirable
  • Broad understanding of the payment landscape and VISA products and solutions desirable (or willingness to learn)
