Job Description

Visa DPS is one of the world’s largest processors, providing our customers with innovative issuer processing solutions. As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will play a critical role in the rapid expansion of DPS across Europe. Working as part of a small but growing local team with a start-up mentality, and supported by strong global teams, you will be tasked with building the long term client pipeline for DPS. You will work with Visa colleagues to identify opportunities, use your market, client and product knowledge to capitalize and collaborate with the client to sign, deliver and maximize deals. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a new and meaningful service for Visa and our Clients, with an expected huge impact to the business.

  • Develop, maintain, and execute sales strategies to sell and grow the DPS solution with European Financial Institutions, winning new accounts and increasing revenue from existing accounts
  • Own DPS client relationships from introduction through to live, including pitches, proposals, negotiations, and business growth initiatives
  • Use a strong knowledge of Visa’s product portfolio, the qualities & value drivers, to frame client discussions and build affinity with the service
  • Work closely with Visa Account Executives, DPS Product and Client Services to ensure client needs are met and best outcomes for Visa achieved
  • Heavily input into DPS European strategy and direction, understanding and championing market and client needs and trends


Key responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Create market entry and client sales strategies for existing clients and new Financial Institution Prospects
  • Work closely with Account Executives, Solutions Management and DPS Product to ensure effective cross-functional communication, championing Client and Market needs to inform product development priorities.
  • Identify, propose, and drive the adoption of new innovation, working with the Visa Innovation Centre to identify opportunities and test ideas
  • Build strong relationships with our key clients and prospects based on trust and collaboration, anticipating needs, advocating for the client and managing challenge
  • Create and implement annual Visa DPS Europe sales goals and plans
  • Support the development of sales collateral in conjunction with Marketing and Product teams, to reflect the evolving nature and value of the service
  • Perform client, market and sales analyses to enable data-led decision making, using the information to drive action and change where needed
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach that ensures that the client’s business objectives are met and that the performance metrics of their payment portfolios are maximized 
  • Prepare and manage proposals incl. pitching, pricing and negotiate contractual relationships with financial institutions for accepting and deploying issuer processing services
  • Manage client negotiations, understanding motivations and needs for Visa’s benefit, settling differences to achieve best outcomes for Visa and the client
  • Develop an understanding of the customer's business including payment strategy and provide feedback and insights to product development
  • Produce regular sales and pipeline reporting

Qualifications

  • Strong work experience in sales and relationship management in the payments industry or related field with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or equivalent professional experience required.
  • A proactive and driven individual with the capacity to adapt to solve problems, address challenges and enable progression
  • Demonstrated track record of planning, managing, and closing complex, competitive sales efforts, with advanced negotiation skills
  • A strategic thinker who is able to identify opportunity and drive action to capitalize
  • A data driven individual, with superior analytic and reporting skills
  • Good knowledge of the European payments landscape
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentational
  • An ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong experience working in the Issuer Card Processing space a plus
  • Proven ability to negotiate business agreements and enhance existing and new relationships 
  • A demonstrated understanding of financial indicators to measure business performance and an ability to summarize business and financial data in a useful manner for planning and decision making
  • Where relevant, European travel shall be required
