Job Description

This Lead Technical Program Manager position requires an experienced professional with strong technical experience and skill sets who understands how to bring all the key technology and platform components and services together to make sure we can deliver  scalable and robust products and solutions for Merchants & Acquirer Solutions Product Development (MAP PD).

The ideal candidate should have the ability to envision and manage all the key activities and dependencies, resolve technical challenges needed between the different functional groups - Technology, Operations & Infrastructure, CyberSecurity, and Product Development (PD). Drive the planning, technical development, and delivery effort as a program with key milestones identified and manage the day-to-day project plan. Ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, understanding of the technical design and be able to resolve any technical issues or problems that may arise. Require outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented technology environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be accountable for the end-to-end planning and execution of one or more complex / large programs and/or Agile teams.
  • Facilitate scrum of scrum meetings for 1 or more programs.
  • Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Improve team velocity and leverage tools like burn downs and capacity modeling to ensure that the teams are productive
  • Lead and negotiate scope, schedule, budget, risks, deployments and communications for projects and initiatives.  
  • Coach multiple teams through the software development life cycle using Agile, Scrum, and Lean practices and work cross-functionally throughout the company to ensure projects are developed and deployed with quality and timely delivery into our production systems.   
  • Ask thoughtful questions to help our Customers, Product Owners, and Product Managers to maximize ROI and meet company objectives.  
  •  Work with Product Owners to promote and contribute to the improvement of the product backlog.   
  • Ability to facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-up meetings, reviews/demos, retrospectives, and other scrum ceremonies.  
  • Shield the team from outside distractions and interference. 
  • Track and remove impediments for the team.  
  • Set priorities, influence others, and manage customer expectations  
  • Facilitate discussions and conflict resolution.  
  • Coach team in estimation techniques.  
  • Develop metrics and reports to help the team understand its health and progress and to set goals.   
  • Coach/Mentor team members to internalize Scrum and the Agile Principles.  
  • Influence change at all levels to increase team and organization performance at a sustainable pace

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

• 14+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
• Must have solid experience working as a Software Development Engineer or Test Automation Engineer for 8+ years and should have progressed into Program Manager role
• Deep knowledge of technology, software development life cycle, engineering operations, platform components & services, databases, etc.
• Good knowledge and hands-on experience of technical implementations of large scale, highly available, robust web/mobile applications
• SME Knowledge of project management principles and Agile development methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and deliver projects on time
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex programs across multiple teams.
• Demonstrate good attention to details, ability to think analytically and independently
• Good prioritization, negotiation and communication skills
• Outstanding communication ability including clearly and concisely communicating any project issues, risks to an executive audience.
• Experience with other Lean/Agile framework and methods, i.e.: Kanban, SAFe, XP, etc
• Decisive but inclusive decision making in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently with light supervision
• Proficient in at least one agile project management tool: Rally, Jira, Version One, etc.
• Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and SharePoint) required.
• Reporting skills using PowerBI and/or python a plus
• At least one project management certification such as:
o First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
o PMI Certification (PMP, CAPM, Agile Certified Practitioner)
o Scaled Agile Framework
