Job Description

We are looking for a proven thought leader who has in-depth knowledge and experience in Asia Pacific economics and consumer and payments industry trends. This individual will function as a subject matter expert on regional economic and industry trends and be able to derive thematic and commercial insights from them.  In doing so, the individual will enhance the Visa brand within Visa Worldwide Inc, with our clients and the public.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Pro-actively ideate points of view and insights around the interplay between macroeconomic developments, consumer behaviour, and payment industry trends.
  • Work with the regional Principal Economist and wider team to develop content for the team’s client presentations and economics publications. You should be able to independently produce slide decks to a client-ready standard.
  • Derive relevant and novel insights from existing Visa data. Utilise your proven ability to synthesis’s economic and financial data from private and government sources to develop new insights into the payments industry specifically addressing key regional markets. Be able to use creative data visualization to illustrate compelling narratives.
  • Be able to conceive, research and write written publications for thought-leadership that gain traction with relevant stakeholders.
  • Be a credible verbal communicator of insights to groups of industry executives and to Visa colleagues in small group settings. Be confident, entertaining and concise when presenting on stage to an audience. 
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and develop new client-focused products and solutions in collaboration with the Visa’s Consulting and Analytics team.
  • This position is project-focused and typically requires managing multiple projects and priorities within strict time constraints.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal Visa stakeholders and partners and manage internal compliance and cross-functional requirements.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

To succeed in this demanding and rewarding role you will need the ability to think and communicate creatively to differentiate Visa’s unique understanding of the consumer economy and payment trends both internally and externally. Ideally, you will have:

  • An advanced graduate degree in economics. Relevant experience in lieu of advanced degree will be considered.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in the financial services, economic consulting or similar industry.
  • Self-starter with an ability to manage own and others' priorities and adapt as required to an unstructured and fast paced work environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Track record of presenting to senior business audiences.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Asia Pacific economies, consumer and business trends.
  • Demonstrated skills in story-telling through distilling complex analysis into easily digestible messages.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including delivering insights from large and unstructured datasets.
