 Visa’s Finance Systems group has embarked on a major transformational journey. We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of our existing operations to identify areas where we can leverage our existing strengths and pinpoint opportunities for significant new investments. We will not follow the 'traditional' IT playbook of simply purchasing off the shelf solutions and stitching them together, nor will we write everything from scratch – Instead, we will take a thoughtful look at our needs, our existing platforms, our budgets and priorities, and determine the best strategy for moving forward. 

  Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Information Technology, The Vice President of Finance Systems will lead a global team of over 300 resources, driving the strategic vision for the Corporate IT organization in a variety of areas including Finance Data Services, Finance Analytics, and Finance Application Development and Operations. This role handles all the technology for our revenue systems, supporting finance tools and mission critical finance applications. 

In this role, you will provide innovative leadership, motivation, and guidance required for Corporate IT to successfully meet strategic objectives and deliverables in support of these business needs. It will be essential for you to encourage innovation and experimentation to create and deliver software solutions that meet or exceed customer and stakeholder expectations, often helping to shape business requirements to make the best use of our technology teams. 

  You will be responsible for a cross-functional, global team of software engineers, solution architects and operations teams that will define and implement technology project architecture, technology strategy, and play a leadership role providing guidance to stakeholders. You should be a thought leader and dynamic people leader capable of identifying and executing the actions needed for successfully delivering Visa’s strategic priorities whilst navigating a highly matrixed global environment. You are a persuasive communicator capable of engaging and challenging senior audiences, and will take ownership of complex, multi-faceted, open-ended problems and drive them to completion 

 

Essential Functions: 

  

  • Align and execute the technology roadmap to drive business objectives and maximize impact. 

  • Perform build-vs-buy analysis to determine if the business strategy is best supported using third party SaaS vendor packages or custom-built applications (or a combination of both). 

  • Identify areas for continued automation and optimization.  

  • Current on emerging technologies such as Generative AI, Predictive AI/ML, etc. so that the most effective and appropriate technologies are selected for each platform. 

  • Ensure engineering excellence processes are adopted, so that all code is highly efficient, effective, maintainable and fit-for-purpose to maintain highly robust and resilient platforms with minimum technical debt. 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Data Services strategy to leverage best practices for democratization of data, data governance best practices, efficient data use with high performance, high data quality, etc. 

  • Provide leadership and oversight to large transformational programs across many functional teams including 3rd party vendors. 

  • Budget management providing workforce plans, budget development, tracking and forecasting, including managing the team to achieve target scope, schedule and cost objectives.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications  

  • 12 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or 8 years relevant work experience with a PhD. 

  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Science, Math, or related field plus equivalent work experience. 

  • 18+ years of technology leadership experience with increasing responsibility growing and leading high-performance teams and directing the corporate IT function. 

  • Strong architectural experience in planning, designing, building and implementing automated solutions for Finance systems. 

  • Experience globally deploying both packaged and customized mission critical enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications for Finance business functions.  

  • Previous experience with any of the following ERP: Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, and/or Dynamics 365. 

  • A skilled communicator capable of delivering technology strategy and IT situations to diverse audiences in readily understood non-technical language. 

  • ITIL, Six Sigma or Agile development experience desired.
