Job Description

The System Engineer shall work to achieve the objectives of the organization. The SE will be responsible for working as a member of the design Team, led by the Technical Lead, and Program Managers to identify analyze and define application IT needs; including analyzing user needs to determine functional requirements ensuring that the technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise technical architecture. The SE will be expected to formulate and define the technology designs, based on enterprise technical architecture and ITILbased enterprise processes. The SE is expected to identify architectural, technology, process, user risks, and potential impacts. The SE will be expected to apply ITILbased process improvement methodologies to improve upon the technology designs, in addition to providing a total systems perspective including a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies, and requirements of the software and hardware components of the projects. The SE must be knowledgeable of software development lifecycles, agile and otherwise, in addition to being experienced in creating program and technical documentation. The SE must be knowledgeable and experienced in defining IT architectural and technical issues and providing expert level guidance to technical and program teams. The SE must have a demonstrated capability to work independently, as well as in a team, in addition to being able to coordinate and manage the resolutions of issues internally and externally to the organization. The SE must have a demonstrated capability to interact with program team members and customers/stakeholders producing proactive and positive results.

Demonstrated ability to identify technical and programmatic risks based on technical requirements and designs, and provides solutions to address those risks. Demonstrated ability to translate technical requirements or customer needs into a technical design. Demonstrated ability to work proactively and productively with other technical experts and all levels of IT project customers (both technical and nontechnical). Demonstrated knowledge of software development project lifecycles, agile and otherwise. Demonstrated ability to independently learn commercial off the shelf (COTS) and custom developed software applications. Demonstrated successful experience with working on large, enterprise level SW projects/programs that have been deployed to the WMA.
