Job Description

This position will provide key contribution on a multi-functional team of Integration, Validation, Device Interoperability, new technology trials and/or technical demonstrations.  Incumbent will be involved in 4G technologies including  LTE as well as CDMA with primary focus on validating the network infrastructure software and compliance against implemented requirements, bug-fixes, and software enhancements.  the software validation responsibility also includes OA&M verification, data collection, redundancy, robustness, and backward compatibility of network elements.


The incumbent will be a key member of the technical team responsible for implementing test cases for CDMA and/or LTE major network equipment designed based on 3GPP2 and 3GPP standards.  Responsibilities are to evaluate features and functions of network infrastructure, prepare test plans and conduct tests to validate designed features of Samsung’s wireless network equipment.  Provide analysis of issues by analyzing log-files and L2/L3 messages and help determine the root cause of anomalies discovered. Create test reports including debug analysis in a timely fashion.  Serve as an interface and provide support to resolve technical issues with customer devices.  Maintain existing lab equipment and evaluate futuristic equipment to enhance testing capabilities.  Evaluate and recommend test automation methods for increasing testing efficiencies, ensure that the network infrastructure is available for testing.



  • Performs tests to validate network equipment in various frequency bands of the LTE and  CDMA2000 technologies
  • Interfaces proactively and effectively within STA and with customers as related to testing activities.
  • Assist in determination of resolution to issues discovered during testing by studying layer 2 and layer 3 messages.
  • Provide input for improvements in lab functionality, test automation, training, and lab maintenance procedures.
  • Compiles results and writes required engineering reports, test plans and procedures for interoperability testing.
  • Studies test procedures and test standards to gain better understanding for implementing test cases.
  • Debugs lab issues and special assignments as needed.
  • Analyze and recommend test equipment, test methods to validate essential requirements.
  • Participate in testing committees and test standard development upon request and as necessary.


Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in wireless networks, validation or design.

Strong knowledge in either LTE, WiMAX, CDMA and network architecture

Strong knowledge in either RF or Data networks

3 to 5 years Experience with wireless data and IP networks

5 + years Experience in system integration and validation

Expertise in testing various protocols for interoperability

Expertise in creating test plans for system level, subsystem level and feature level testing.

Experience with performance analysis and troubleshooting the issues

Understanding of IP QoS, End-to-End QoS

Experience with MIP, SIP/RTP Radius/Diameter and TCP/IP suite is desired

Ability to interpret the requirements provided in standards, convert message flows and requirements into test cases.

Ability to writ test plans and test methods



General Qualifications

OFDMA/CDMA background required

Experience in Software Validation

Experience with test equipment and protocol analyzers

Familiarity with 3GPP & 3GPP2 standards

Prefer some experience in programming and/or scripting

Understanding of telecommunications HW as well as SW architecture

Able to work hands on with the equipment in the vendor and customer’s lab

Ability to provide technical direction to other Engineers

Ability to work and communicate with a broad set of team members of varying knowledge base

Ability to travel sporadically during the project
