Vlocity has built a talented team of technical writers, and launched an onsite documentation portal to support its expanding product lines. As the department Director, you will have responsibility for deepening and enhancing our content, implementing operational processes, and further developing the team.

People are the core at Vlocity. You’ll be responsible for building your team, developing their skills, and providing an environment that maximizes their contributions, creativity and satisfaction. You’ll establish standards where needed, but encourage innovation and flexibility whenever possible. You’ll assist your team members in achieving their professional goals, and actively recruit new writers.

With agile development methods and a rapidly growing product team, we release new features at high Vlocity. As Director, you will work closely with our product, engineering and services executives to align our resources to our release plans. You’ll ensure that the documentation portal is ready to support the features in each major release at the time it’s made available to customers. You’ll coordinate input from our implementation teams and our top customers to understand gaps in our materials, and coordinate writers, product managers and engineers to address the needs.

Vlocity believes in product innovation, and our approach to technical publications is no different. You’ll have the mandate to enhance our documentation portal, integrate illustrations and video, and explore new approaches to communicating with our customers. You’ll keep tabs on the innovators within Tech Pubs, and drive Vlocity to be included in their ranks.

You’re a gifted writer, and have a penchant for making complex topics easy and engaging. You might be writing a tech pub - but you'll make it a lot more fun and compelling. When the reader is done, they'll know how to use the feature - and be excited to get started. You’ll cultivate those skills within your team, and empower them to improve and innovate.

You’re always scouring the web for new and creative ways to communicate product information. You know who's doing it right, and emulate them. You're aware of the best practices, but also want to create some of your own.

You’re pragmatic and innovative in choosing your mediums - using guides, support articles, on-line help and videos to accomplish the learning objective. You’re up to speed on screen capture and video tools - or are willing to learn.

You have a passion about making customers successful. You want to learn how customers use the product, and are always asking questions to fill in your knowledge. You dive into their use cases, test our products ability to meet their needs, and then offer your expert advice. You transform questions from our services team into knowledge articles, allowing users to self-serve the next time. You want to ensure that the next time they get stuck on a problem after business hours, your materials will be there to get them through.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 7 years of professional experience in technical writing or content development.
• At least 3 years of experience as a manager of a technical publications group.
• Stellar academic background. Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required.
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
• Basic proficiency in a diagramming tool, such as Visio, OmniGraffle, Illustrator, PowerPoint or others.
• Experience in small, agile teams.
• Must enjoy the challenges and opportunities of a start-up environment.
• Strong work ethic, initiative and drive.
• US Work Permit Required.
