Job Description
Looking for a job that’s both challenging and rewarding? As a Power & Grounding Technician, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our Central Office facilities running like a well-oiled machine. You’ll install, maintain, and test power systems, troubleshooting and ensuring everything stays powered up. If you’re a problem-solver who loves making sure everything functions flawlessly, this is your perfect fit!
What you'll do:
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain digital Central Office equipment, remote units, carrier system equipment, and other associated devices. Assist in the installation, service, and removal of Central Office facilities and equipment.
Power System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and testing of office generators, batteries, and DC power plants. Ensure the functionality of power and grounding systems, including battery maintenance and ground audits.
Environmental Controls: Maintain environmental controls such as HVAC, alarms, lighting, and building access for vendors.
Equipment Repairs: Diagnose and repair Central Office equipment by conducting diagnostic tests and performing necessary repairs using mechanical and electrical power tools and equipment.
Testing: Ensure the functionality of newly installed Central Office equipment by conducting acceptance tests as appropriate.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Industry regulations, and basic electricity principles
Skill in:
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining Central Office switching equipment
- Using mechanical and electric power tools
Ability to:
- Read and interpret documents such as schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams
- Work varying shifts and hours, including possible overtime and weekends
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Specialized training in electronics, DC power, or HVAC
- One to two years' experience in Central Office/Plant operations
- Valid commercial state driver’s license with a current satisfactory driving record
