WayForward Technologies is an independent video game developer based in Santa Clarita, California.

The Animation Department has openings for 2D animation talent and we are looking for people that can bring a character to life! You will start with thumbnails and work your way through to final animation. Above all an animator at WayForward knows that gameplay is king and it’s our responsibility to help connect the gameplay with the audience using animation!   

Needs

• Online Portfolio with contact information 
  
• Animation reel showing character animations (creatures, etc)
• Drawing Ability (Thumbnails on paper, sketching)
• Comfortable with learning new software quickly
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility in work pipelines (can overcome hurdles)
• Self starter and enjoys a challenging environment 
• Focused on getting work done

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and create animations for real time game assets.
• Assist designers and engineers with gameplay prototypes.
• Work with lead to ensure timely completion of character assets at the desired quality bar.
• Serve as an active participant in team art discussions, critiques and reviews.

Preference to applicants with: 

• 2D Animation software knowledge (SPINE, Toonboom, ETC)
• 2D Drawing Skills (digital drawing, digital coloring, photoshop, traditional hand drawn animation) 
• 3D Related skills, such as modeling, rigging a HUGE PLUS

Experience

• Worked on previously shipped titles (preferred but not mandatory)
• Has personal projects (preferred but not mandatory)
• Loves playing games (preferred but not mandatory)

Education

• Degree in Animation (preferred but not mandatory)
