Job Description

  • The Manager, Public Relations–Healthcare and Research, will work in partnership with VP of PR, the PR team and agency resources to:

    • Support the Company’s healthcare growth strategy through the Weight Watchers Health Solutions business
    • Maintain the Company’s reputation for trust and efficacy and further establish thought leadership for the Weight Watchers Science Team

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the Company’s healthcare growth strategy through the Weight Watchers Health Solutions business by:
      • Developing corporate thought leadership opportunities that position Weight Watchers as an effective, scaleable and cost-effective solution to weight management
      • Working in partnership with the Weight Watchers Health Solutions team and agency partners to create PR programming designed to reach large employers and insurance companies
      • Developing programming, messages and materials with a commercial objective –to generate sales leads among large employers and insurers
    • Maintain the Company’s reputation for trust and efficacy and further establish thought leadership for the Weight Watchers Science Team
      • Promote clinical research with media, relevant third parties and key influencers that demonstrates efficacy of WW versus other approaches to weight loss
    • Collaborate with Science Team and agency to develop an ongoing, proactive and creative approach to developing and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs)and media
    • Develop and maintain strong working relationship with Chief Scientific Officer and his team

     

    • Vet research to determine potential for PR use and guide agency in developing communications plans
    • Develop messaging that resonates with a range of audiences
    • In partnership with the agency, lead activities on an ongoing basis, including:
      • Develop and manage corresponding PR budget
      • Continually refine positioning and messaging to support company initiatives
      • Research and write press materials, including messages, press releases, byline articles, etc.
      • Analyze results in order to evolve PR strategies and tactics
    • Evaluate opportunities to participate in third-party sponsorships and news announcements and manage accordingly

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of consumer PR experience with Bachelor’s Degree – Journalism, Business,
  • Communications, and/or Marketing preferred
  • B2B healthcare marketing experience
  • Strategic and creative thinker
  • Ability to lead projects from brief to ideation to execution and reporting
  • Very strong writing and communication ability with a commercial mindset
  • Media-savvy
  • Track record of developing and maintaining a network of media and influencer relationships
