About the position

The Junior Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the Shipping-, Release- and set-up of a Clearing & Forwarding Department at the office and at the quay-side, steering all operations in a timely manner. He/she has to operate maintaining high quality levels of communication as well as correct and timely documentation/document flow according to the terms and regulations within the shipping industry. Client satisfaction is a must. The Junior Manager negotiates operational rates with clients / suppliers, approves expenditures and supervises timely payment of related 3rd part invoices and receipt of funds from clients.

 

Based in Tema, the Junior Manager oversees all staff of Shipping/Release and C&F Department on location and eventual branch offices in the country of operation. The Junior Manager reports to the Managing Director/Group MD. Ideally, the Junior Manager has been in a similar leading roll and has some sea transport / shipping agency experience as well as Africa experience.

Qualifications

About the candidate

 

The ideal candidate should fit the following criteria:

 

  • Self-confident, mature personality with excellent communication skills
  • Previous Africa experience
  • Entrepreneurial, solution-oriented, hands on and no-nonsense doer
  • Experience in shipping agency work and clearing & forwarding
  • Flexible attitude
  • Fluent English verbal and written a must, French a pre

 

 

Terms

  • 3 year contract, 6 months probation period
  • Local Wage: equivalent of USD 1.000 per month net in local currency (taxes to be paid by employer)
  • International Wage: from USD 3.000 depending on experience (gross for net) (taxes to be paid by employee - in case applicable)
  • Furnished housing, transport, health insurance, SOS passport, 2x return tickets per year to home country
  • 5 months work, one month off, mainly 5 day work week (except vessels arrivals during weekends)
  • First interviews shall be held in the Netherlands (or via Skype) in October
