Job Description

General Manager

The General Manager Kenya has the overall responsibility, without limitations, for managing the revenue and cost elements (P&L) of the Company and with that oversees the local marketing and sales activities as well as the day-to-day business operations. The GM will need to ensure that operations run smoothly and according to company policy and that vendors and suppliers are properly and correctly compensated and ensure that they continue to meet the needs of the company. The GM will usually report to executive staff members such as the vice president, operational manager and area manager.

 

Scope of Work

 

  1. Tasks are including effective planning of materials and human resources, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing and decision making to attain desirable profit making results for the Company including all related and necessary activities which reasonably can be expected from the GM.

 

  1. As a professional, flexibility is expected from the GM in adapting to the changing demands of the Companies and / or customer’s business needs and therefore devotes 100% of his time and attention while at work exclusively to assigned duties and functions and works sufficient hours to complete his assigned tasks to a reasonable standard and within reasonable deadlines.

 

  1. The GM complies with the Company's policies, rules and procedures, promulgated from time to time, treat Company’s information as confidential and avoids disclosing any of the Company’s sensitive information to any third party including company's competitors, even inadvertently.

 

  1. Reports directly to the Area Manager, Financial Manager, Operational Manager and the Managing Director of the Head Office, the Netherlands.

General Requirements:

  • At least 5 years experience in same or similar position.
  • Technically minded person, preferably with knowledge and experience in refrigeration and / or HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning).
  • Fluent in English (written & verbal). Local languages a plus.
  • Good / fair knowledge of local labour laws.
  • Knowledge of local markets.
  • Excellent basic computer skills; MS office, outlook. Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS projects a plus.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organisational, interpersonal, delegation, administration, financial and leadership skills.
  • Contactable references.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following: business management, mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Or by experience in combination with recognised diploma’s or courses in above disciplines, from accredited institutions only.
