Job Description

The location

The vacancy concerned is located at our client’s 25 Ha production farm in Souss Massa, South Morocco, some 40 km south of Agadir City. Here the development trials and vegetable seeds production is taking place. The farm is being operated with approximately 5 permanent employees and between 30 to 50 temporary ones.


The position, tasks and responsibilities

The Farm Manager reports directly to the head office in France (hierarchically to the CEO and functionally to the Global Sites Manager).

The emphasis of the position is on:

  • Overall management of the Farm,
  • Staff and team coordination,
  • Selection and organization of the temporary (from a few weeks to a few months) workers with their tasks and

   objectives,

  • Covering the weekly pay to all workers in concert with the accountant,
  • Welcoming and facilitating the company breeders’ regular visits to the farm to follow up their tests and trials,
  • Providing support to the colleagues responsible for seeds production,

The ideal candidate will be able to achieve objectives in specifically the following areas:

  • Perfect maintenance of the farm
  • Production planning, costs and budget regular forecasts,
  • Crop quality operations/management,

In addition:

  • Liaising with the accountant in order to set up all cost schedules and the annual account,
  • Being the interface with the farm banks and lawyers,
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly reporting (results/costs spending) to selected key persons in France,
  • Organizing any 3rd party visits to the farm, be it for commercial or communication aims,
  • The farm represents the companies’ image in Morocco and outside. It is paramount to maintain the highest standards in any fields of quality, security and last but not least as regards the environment impacts.
  • The farm manager will have to travel throughout Morocco in relation with the management of the farm, and
  • periodically to the head office in France to attend meetings of various kinds.

Qualifications

Function requirements

  • · Horticultural or agricultural education at Bachelor or Master degree level
  • · Proven experience with multidisciplinary management and a professional way of leadership.
  • · The ability to achieve a good balance between controlling the operation, financial, commercial, volume, quality

   and productivity on the one hand and the ability to motivate & guiding the people in the organization on the other.

  • · An understanding of horti-production and experience with production farm management. You however do not

   have to be a crop management/cultivation expert (i.e. Grower)

  • · Experience with vegetable production is a must,
  • · Professional dealings with government institutions and local authorities in Morocco, aimed at sustainable

  relationships.

  • · Experienced user of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • · Experience abroad, preferably in North Africa
  • · Proficient control of the French language is a must.
