KONEKSIE is a Dutch social venture that designs, produces and provides mobility concepts for African
transport markets. The first mobility concept targets the East African motorcycle-taxi industry,
bodaboda. This mobility concept includes four elements: a motorcycle (developed by KONEKSIE and
designed for the purpose of transportation of people and goods), a maintenance program, asset
financing and driver training. KONEKSIE has offices in The Netherlands, China and in Kenya.
KONEKSIE was founded in November 2011 and identified East Africa, starting in Kenya, as its first
market. For our activities in Kenya, KEA is looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Managing
Director.
The activities of the KEA are:
! Product manufacturing and assembly
- Supply chain & logistics (international)
- Motorcycle assembly & quality control
- Motorcycle frame (operational in 2016)
- Motorcycle plastic production (operational in 2016)

! Sales & after-sales operations
- Distribution (Kenya & East Africa)
- Innovative micro asset financing solutions for the bodaboda industry
- Marketing & sales
- Motorcycle maintenance

! Corporate social responsibility
- Partnership management (government, private and NGO)
- Road safety training
- Lobby and public relations

KEA is in development and the organisation in Kenya is growing rapidly and will continue to do so in
the near future. As a result the range of activities will expand accordingly.

Job Description

KEA is looking for an entrepreneurial and hands-on Managing Director is motivated about Greenfield 

Projects. The position requires leadership and a strong set of management skills. As the MD of KEA
you are the internal and external representation of KEA in the region.
The responsibilities of the Managing Director in Kenya are:

! Develop and set-up the organisation
- Managing setting up the company structure and the back office
- Manage the development and implementation of company processes
- Human resources: recruit personnel and develop HR strategy
- Create company culture based on the KONEKSIE philosophy
! Management
- Organizing: divide work into manageable activities and accomplish tasks with team
- Setting goals/objectives for the team

Qualifications

  • Extensive and proven management track-record in a manufacturing surrounding (8+ years)
  • Experience in setting up a company/organisation in Kenya with a minimum of 10+ FT employees
  • Be a Kenya expert who is fluent in English and has a good understanding of Swahili
  • Affinity with the automotive industry
  • Positive attitude towards the bodaboda industry
  • Passion for social entrepreneurship
  • Commercial drive and result driven
  • Good networking skills and the ability to make smart partnerships happen
  • Entrepreneurial DNA
  • 8+ years of experience in operations management, marketing, microfinance banking or consulting
  • Creative solutions driven mind-set, with a getting things done mentality
  • Work permit for Kenya
