Our client has been active on the logistics market in West Africa for over 10 years now. With their dedicated sub agents covering all of West Africa, the company now employs over 300 staff.

They mainly operate in the Mining and Offshore and the Oil and Gas sector, but can handle all sort of port calls for the liner or tramp sector, amongst other services like Platform Supply Vessels or Husbandry Service.

Job Description

Purpose (A brief statement of the reason why the job exists)

 To manage all Logistics matters within Sales/Customer Service/Ops/finance

 To set logistics strategy in Sierra Leone.

 To ensure logistics budget is met, while continually looking for ways to increase volumes/profit.

 Monitor logistic operations on a daily basis, ensuring target budget is met.

 Keep records of each files summary and on a monthly basis reconcile with finance .

 Monitor and control fuel and spares on trucks and trailers under the Logistics Department

 Protect and enhance the reputation of the company


Principal Accountabilities (What are the main outputs / key areas of responsibility of the job)

 Participates actively in establishing annual logistics budgets and formulate these into action plans. Monitors performance and take corrective action as required to ensure budgets are achieved.

 Work in conjunction with the other departments to ensure good communication and common strategies are achieved within the company.

 Support and provide leadership for the staff and ensure Company mission and strategy is translated into departmental level.

 Attend personally to your specified accounts and ensure that all customers are handled in conformity with the highest standards.

 Ensure tariffs are always kept up-to-date. Also ensures that all individual agreements with your specified customers are kept on file.

 Ensure all clients are fully informed and reports are made on time as per client’s requirements.

 Monitor closely outstanding to ensure we minimise and any defaulters are approached to correct situation.

 Ensure all files are closed within 14 days of completion of a project.

 Recommend in co-ordination with management on advertisement campaigns / promotional items.

 Co-ordinate with other departments to ensure there is conformity between logistics activities and the service delivered to the customer.

 Support and train staff for both logistics and trucking.

 Overall responsible for the trucking and ensuring trucking is profitable.

 Holding daily meetings with logistics staff, closing monitoring the operation, minimising any possible delays.

 Hiring and firing of staff in coordination with management.

 Developing /selling logistic incl. projects.

 Overall responsible for logistic incl. projects.

 Handling of claims.

 Your duties as defined in job description and shall also include such other functions as may be decided from time to time by the Senior Management


Dimensions [i.e. what is the impact of the job in numerical terms?]

 Fully accountable and responsible for meeting and exceeding financial and non-financial targets for logistics in the Sierra Leone.

 Includes meeting and exceeding targets for Clients, Logistics and other Activities.


Nature and Scope

 Reports to Managing Director.

 Responsible for all logistics/trucking activities within the Sierra Leone.

Customers (Key receivers of your work)

 Internal – All sales, customer service and marketing staff within the country.

 External – All customers on issues related to logistics


Suppliers (Key suppliers of your work)

 Internal – operations.

 External – Customs, port, DM services

Qualifications

Candidate Experience

The candidate needs to have experience in Logistics and Project Cargo and have worked in West Africa region for min 5 years.

Kindly note that for countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea same are considered as NON family countries.

The operation in Sierra Leone is the biggest within the copmany and the forward department employ 15-20 staff.


Package

Holiday :45 Working Days per calendar year.

Flights : 3 Economy Tickets to their home per year.

Accommodation: :Housing / Flat which will be provided by the company fuel, water and electricity is paid by the company

Insurance :The candidate is covered by IHI / BUPA and is paid by the company.

Car / Transport :Vehicle with fuel and Driver paid by the company

Salary : A local salary of max Usd 1000 and the tax of this is paid by the company. The overseas salary is based on the candidates experience.
