Job Description

Here at WhitePages we are totally jazzed about the capabilities of latest Ruby on Rails and Coffeescript and are using these to remake our top 40 website this year. We're looking some creative developers to make it sing. We're moving beyond the directory to make the site a hub for users to leverage contact information in new ways. You will work in a small team solving daily challenges related to scaling and availability. You’ll dive into search and semantic content delivery. You'll apply your eye to great user centric design on both the front end and the back end. You're interest in social media, mobile technologies and location based services are a key to being successful because we want to really stretch those abilities too. Sound like fun?

Qualifications

We’ll need you coding in Ruby or at least ready to pick it up fast. So it’s great if you are already strong, but we’ve had great developers come from backgrounds in Java, .NET, or Python. The key thing is the strong computer science concepts and a sense of how to code high scale applications (caching, asynchronous background jobs queues – that sort of thing). You’ll probably have done some web work with things JavaScript, CSS and HTML too. If you’ve worked with NoSQL and deployed apps to the cloud before you can keep that up please, but if not this is an opportunity to pick up a new challenge.
