Job Description

Wilen New York is a full-service direct marketing agency offering strategic insight, creative development, end-to-end production and detailed analytics across all direct marketing channels. Best of all, we’re conveniently located right here on Long Island.

As Vice President of Technology at Wilen New York, you will be an essential member of the Wilen leadership team. You will be responsible for the strategic vision and technology leadership in our company. You will play a vital operational role by leading and managing the following functional areas: IT Operations including Infrastructure, Systems, Networking and Software Application Development, while ensuring that IT projects and day-to-day IT operations are meeting company demands. In this position you will also play a lead, client-facing role in collaboration with Account Management and Application Services teams.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15+ years of demonstrated proven operational success and hands-on experience overseeing a diverse technology department in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Travel is required and hours must be flexible to support our 24/7/365 operation.


Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

 Lead and manage operations and personnel of all Technology departments.

 Optimize IT operational efficiencies, research and identify emerging technologies that ensure the sustainability of the architecture while maintaining quality as the business continues to scale.

 Manage technical development projects and provide support and expertise to ensure alignment with company strategy and goals and improve overall performance and profitability of the company.

 Oversee the administration, management and maintenance of Wilen’s network, systems, data circuits and telecommunications.

 Provide leadership to drive execution and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.

 Lead technology team in all aspects of full life-cycle development, including requirements analysis, system design, and unit and integration testing, with documentation throughout.

 Serve as technical advisor to management to develop realistic goals; Lead status meetings and establish department priorities and schedules to ensure staff is operationally aligned with short and long terms goals.

 Strategy, Planning and Organization – Collaborate with management and stakeholders to understand system needs; developing models to assess how systems will work together; ensuring that integrated legacy systems/applications will not affect the integrity of the combined systems.

 Interface with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve quality, quantify impact, prioritize initiatives, and develop execution plans.

 Manage and build client relationships and create client satisfaction, ensuring all requirements, schedules, deliverables and milestones are met throughout project lifecycle.

 Discover, develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the industry, trends, and client needs.

 Lead training sessions; develop training manuals/guidelines to support process changes or best practices.

 Ability to both manage a help desk team and be hands-on in the execution of help desk functions.

 After-hours availability on an as needed basis to ensure uninterrupted operation of all organizational systems.


Requirements: (Education, Certification and Experience):

 Technology leadership/experience in Manufacturing/Advertising industries with 15+ years of relevant experience including a thorough understanding of integration and testing required.

 Proven track record of delivering client programs and projects, highlighted by strong management skills including planning and estimating; delivery and deliverable creation; scope management; risk and issue management; and resources. 

 Skilled in the full client delivery lifecycle, including: business planning; data analysis; process analysis and design; business and functional requirements analysis; program roadmap creation; design; build; test; implement and operate.

 Hands-on expert with a full understanding of the latest Microsoft software development languages and framework—including .NET, C#, TFS, and Visual Studio 2013. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics a plus. Must have a working knowledge of SAN replication, DFS, and Microsoft SQL High-Availability Clustering.

 Broad knowledge of and experience with hardware, operating systems, peripheral equipment, and software systems and development tools / languages.

 Proven ability to manage and motivate diverse teams – multi-company, cross-functional/technical teams to deliver programs and projects on time. 

 Strong problem solving abilities: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and establish credibility with technical professionals.

 Ability to quickly adapt and gain knowledge of all internal and external technologies, systems, applications and frameworks in an evolving business environment.

 GMC Inspire/Variable Data Printing knowledge (preferred but not required).

 Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

 Travel is required, 25%.
