Head of Venture – Fleet/Mobility as a service (MaaS) / Uru Pakihi- Fleet/Mobility as a service (MaaS)

  • Full-time

Company Description

We believe that if we want to be a world class Kiwi Company, we shouldn’t just employ people, divide them into functional departments and tell them what to do. Instead, we defined a purpose - to solve what matters for our customers and their moving world - and go about achieving this by setting clear goals and expectations and embracing diversity of thought.

At Z, Customer Experience is at the heart of everything we do - our strategy, capability development and investment decisions. We're creating and continually developing products and digital channels our customers will love and that make their lives easier.

Job Description

The Z of 2030 and 2050 needs to look very different to today. At Z we stand for an environmentally sustainable New Zealand that is an example to the rest of the world and an inspiration to Kiwis. The products we sell are a major contributor to Aotearoa’s carbon emissions and part of the climate change problem, so we are moving to being at the heart of the solution.

Increasing our EV charging network is a key example of how we are actively choosing to invest in low-carbon revenue streams that are better for the planet and deliver a sustainable, viable future for our business. It is the right thing to do for our customers and for Z. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to charge on the go as it is to fuel up today.

Heading up our Fleet/Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is a unique opportunity to own this new business venture for Z and guide it through the startup phases. You will have accountability for the initiatives through the various funding stages, developing the implementation of infrastructure and technologies, including resource allocation and overall management of the venture.

Working towards scale milestones and accountable to the Investment Committee/Venture Board this is an exciting prospect to support the success through the various stages of the venture lifecycle.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Lead the development and execution of new products and businesses - from concept exploration, initial validation, product-market fit, product launch, revenue growth, and local and international expansion.
  • Accountable for all aspects of the new business including strategy, marketing, sales, operations, technology, service delivery, resources and administration as well as P&L management
  • Adopt a lean start-up approach to building a minimum viable business and go-to-market strategy that will scale
  • Ensure that the venture strategy and roadmap is integrated across Z’s portfolio of ventures and existing lines of business to deliver the optimal value
  • Develop a competitive advantage within the market the venture operates in so that Z can obtain a meaningful market share, contributing to enterprise value targets
  • Define, evaluate, and report on key metrics (KPIs & OKRs) to inform decision-making and measure success
  • Conduct due diligence on potential investments, analysing their markets and financial projections, and negotiating deal terms

Qualifications

What you’ll bring to Z

  • Senior stakeholder management and the ability to build strong strategic alliances and develop strategies
  • Experience engaging and influencing others in a long-term vision
  • Be comfortable working with ambiguity and see failure as another chance to learn and improve
  • Project Management from feasibility through to construction and commissioning
  • Detail-oriented and capable of delivering in a fast paced and complex environment with a consistent level of high quality
  • Proven ability to extract and analyse data to make product decisions
  • Deal execution and contract negotiation skills

And of course, you’ll be passionate about what matters to Z, embracing and living our values to help us deliver on our aspirations and broader commitment to Aotearoa New Zealand.
