The Senior Benefits Specialist acts as a subject matter expert and go-to resource for our concierge team to exceed member service expectations and boost client success.

To that end, we’re looking for an agile benefits expert to serve as a liaison between client services and our concierge contact center. You’ll leverage your employee benefits knowledge to arm our concierge advisors and coordinators with training and insight to understand, interpret, and communicate member benefit detail. Beginning at implementation, and throughout the client life cycle, you’ll directly contribute to our clients’ success through applying your benefits expertise.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Act as subject matter expert on insurance plan coverage and employee benefit offerings across Zest Health’s book of clients.
  • Oversee acquisition/creation of new client materials and ensure contact center team is trained and equipped to support contracted services.
  • Align with client services to keep all materials up-to-date as benefits change.
  • Provide support and guidance to contact center benefit advisors and appointment schedulers.
  • Work with contact center team to analyze processes and benchmarking data to identify and propose process enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with key client stakeholders alongside client services and implementation teams to optimize effectiveness of services provided.
  • Review internal compliance and client disclosure requirements, external vendor contracts, summary plan documents (SPDs) and employee communications to ensure alignment with client expectations and legal requirements.
  • Keep current with health insurance market product offerings and trends, as well as regulatory changes related to employee benefits (ACA, HIPAA, FSA, HSA, etc.).
  • Assist client services with managing client expectations, researching and resolving member complaints. Raise appropriate issues to contact center and client services leadership.
  • Participate in sales prospecting opportunities with new clients as part of a broader team.

Qualifications

What You'll Need:

  • 3-5 years of health insurance benefits management/advisory or related experience; preference for exposure to and knowledge of self-funded group health benefits
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, HR or analytical discipline preferred or combination of education, skills, and experience
  • Functional knowledge of MS Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; strong oral and written communication
  • Highly organized; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to partner with and lead teams to deliver project objectives
  • Strength in working independently with minimal supervision to deliver against project timelines
Nice to Haves:
  • Certification or licensure: Health insurance agent licensure in IL (or other state), CEBS, PHR
  • Experience working in a startup or small organization
