Job Description

Ancestry is seeking a Legal Assistant at our headquarters in Lehi, Utah.

What you will do:

  • Assist in the management of and participation in the contract review and approval process
  • Assist attorneys with the drafting and negotiation of contracts
  • Assist attorneys with filing and maintaining minutes, forms and other corporate governance documents  
  • Maintain, organize and administer legal department files and records for legal department across multiple offices
  • Coordinate calendars for various legal requirements (docketing, deadlines, notifications, etc.);
  • Manage bills, process invoices, track expenses, and liaise with Finance
  • Manage external interfaces, including directing phone calls, retrieving voice mail, managing E-mail, establishing and maintaining calendar and scheduling conference rooms
  • Initiate and implement office procedures and office records system, and maintain supplies
  • Carry out a high volume of reports
  • Maintain and update legal department library, including ordering materials as requested by attorneys
  • Other projects and responsibilities as requested


Who You Are:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • Qualified candidates should demonstrate administrative expertise and related experience, with legal administrative experience strongly preferred
  • Strong reporting, organization, and planning skills  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills
  • High energy and enthusiasm
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability/willingness to learn new software  
  • Experience with contract or other legal database administration strongly preferred
  • Customer-oriented with a true desire to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of legal department members  
  • Open-minded and innovative with ability to be flexible 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Absolute discretion, and an ability to maintain as confidential, all company, departmental and other proprietary and sensitive information, is mandatory
  • Must display a high level of integrity in addressing issues of a confidential nature;
  • A high degree of initiative, drive and sound judgment  
  • Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a smile and a sense of humor and dependability
