Our SEO Marketing Manager assists the broader Search team to assess risk, optimize existing content and identify new SEO opportunities/capabilities across the suite of Ancestry brands. A data driven self-starter, our ideal candidates thirsts for knowledge that he/she can use to improve performance and achieve results. This role executes both current and new SEO tactics to drive year-over-year growth of the natural search channel as a whole. With your ability to quickly make data driven decisions, creatively think outside the box, and prioritize and drive multiple projects, you will effectively balance the technical needs of search engine bots with the functional needs of our human users.
What you will do:
- Responsible for managing the SEO programs to conversion-based targets and working closely with the Paid Search team to maximize overall search ROI
Manage and drive our SEO content production process to rapidly publish valuable content at scale, establishing Ancestry as a dominant presence for any search query related to family history and consumer genomics
Perform regular site audits to ensure priority site sections are crawlable, are optimized for the proper keyword focus and provide users content/functionality to match searcher intent.
Act as an SEO evangelist by effectively communicating opportunities and risks across all parts of the organization
Use web analytics platform and SEO tools to monitor, analyze and optimize website activity, traffic trends, SERP rankings and customer acquisition metrics, through monthly and ad-hoc reports.
Provide SEO support to Product Management and Engineering teams for all ongoing web projects, including new product launches, page refreshes, site re-designs, analytics tools implementation and CMS rollouts.
Work closely with international country managers and sister brands to drive SEO performance across the Ancestry portfolio of websites
Who you are:
Minimum of 3+ years SEO experience, preferably managing large–scale websites (i.e. millions of monthly visitors); e-commerce/online retail business or subscription-based service company highly preferred
Strong analytical skills with track record of managing to performance targets including experience with Google Analytics, Omniture, or other web analytics suites
Experience conducting data-driven SEO site audits and familiarity with tools such as Conductor Searchlight, BrightEdge, Botify, Screaming Frog, etc. a plus
Technical mindset with a working knowledge of HTML as well as a solid understanding of copywriting best practices
A self-starter and equally collaborative team player
Solid understanding of A/B testing, website usability and conversion optimization principles
B.S/B.A. degree in marketing or a related field
