Job Description

As a Senior UX Designer at Ancestry, you’ll work closely with customers, product managers, and software engineers to define, design, prototype, update and create new products that can make the task of discovering family history easier and more enjoyable.

You should be an optimistic problem solver. You like taking on difficult design challenges, even when they might not be glamorous or in the spotlight. You know how to use creativity to find unique solutions to difficult problems.
 

You are an experienced and skilled designer. You can demonstrate competency in all areas of product design, including user research, task analysis, visual design, and interactive prototyping.

 

You are highly skilled in visual design or data visualization. You are able to create visual harmony across various experiences in the product. You will inspire others with your work and attention to design details. Experience implementing design systems is a plus.

 

You are empathetic to our customers’ needs. You are a great listener and strive to understand customer challenges. You know how to validate your designs to ensure that they are usable, meet accessibility standards, and solve real problems.

 

You collaborate well with others. You work well with other designers, product managers, front-end-developers and engineers on agile teams. You adapt quickly to change and are open to feedback, critique in order to continuously grow and improve.

 

You are excited about owning the design and user experience for one of Ancestry’s key features. You know how to make smart decisions that will make a positive impact on the business and make the experience better for our customers.

Qualifications

 

  • You have 5 years of experience in product design (experience in a consumer product is a plus)

  • You have a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • You must have a design portfolio with case studies of real projects you’ve worked on and can articulate the value that your work contributed to the business and customer experience.

  • You must have a track record working with cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, and marketing teams.
