Job Description

arc, a leader in experiential education, is seeking an innovative, passionate, organized, efficient, and dedicated Program Leader - Elementary School Programs to join our team.  This experienced professional must possess at least 1 year of experience in the after school field. The successful candidate is articulate, highly intelligent, creative, a problem solver with exceptional interpersonal skills. We are seeking someone with an entrepreneurial spirit to fit into the arc culture of fast-paced growth and opportunity.

 

As our highly talented Program Leader, you are tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Interact with students daily; assist with taking attendance and managing sign-outs every day.
  • Develop lesson plans for enrichment activities you will lead.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school and district administrators on site.
  • Provide academic support by working with groups of students through homework help or supplemental learning activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to educating and empowering youth to reach their fullest potential.
  • Have the ability to work with a group of 20 or more students.
  • Have basic knowledge of age appropriate classroom and behavior management skills.
  • Be responsible, energetic and creative!
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Qualifications

  • A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines is expected. 
  • Bi- or multi-lingual, a plus!
  • Willingness to work occasional early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
  • Maintain highest degree of confidentiality in student, staff and management matters.
  • Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting
  • Public speaking skills
  • Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to educating and empowering youth to reach their fullest potential.
  • Willing to travel to offsite locations for staff development trainings and other related events.
  • Must pass Live Scan (fingerprinting), background check and tuberculosis test.

Additional Information

Locations: Los Angeles Area

 

Hours: 

Monday – Friday, 12-15 hours per week - Availability between 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, required

Attendance at trainings and meetings is mandatory and scheduled.  Some trainings are on the weekend.  School holidays and breaks off.

 

Compensation: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour, based on experience
