Job Description

Our Operations team ensures access to our

services for the millions of educators and students. This team manages

an infrastructure of hundreds of servers in multiple datacenters with

petabytes of storage. Our service usage has increased by 40% per year

or the last several years and we don’t see that slowing down.

Responsibilities:


  • Partner directly with development and infrastructure teams to build reliable,  scalable applications
  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as required to meet these objectives
  • Interface with senior leaders and executives company-wide on technical matters

You will be working from our main office in beautiful downtown Oakland, just steps from BART.

Qualifications

Must-haves:


  • 8+ Years in Internet-focused Systems Administration and application operations
  • Expert Linux skills with CentOS or other RedHat-based Linux variant including server deployment (kickstart, cobbler, etc), patches and updates from internal or external repositories, kernel including device drivers and tuning, all filesystems
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as CFengine, Puppet or Chef
  • Experience designing and managing DNS, DHCP, SMTP,  and other systems services
  • Familiarity with F5 LTM management, or knowledgeable in Layer 7 load balancing
  • Experience with both public and private Cloud infrastructure, including AWS, VMWare,  and container management and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Nomad)
  • Superb written and verbal communications skills in English
