The International Freedom Coalition is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that exists to eradicate child maltreatment worldwide by strengthening and stabilizing the family unit. Our New Civil Rights Movement: Equal Treatment for the Homeless is advocating for a National Homeless Bill of Rights to protect unhoused individuals and families from abuse and discrimination.

Job Description

Start date: Immediately

Length: 2 years, renewable

If you are an unconventional business/economic development specialist with a passion for social justice who thrives on transforming “impossible” into “successful”, then we are looking for you! As our Business Development Director and CBDO, you will drive our economic development goals for the profitable and sustainable growth of employment and housing opportunities for low-income families. Perfect portfolio builder for professionals in transition or service opportunity for established and retired professionals.


Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, recommend, and develop strategic plans for new business opportunities.
• Develop sustainable strategies for employing disadvantaged citizens in business pursuits.
• Develop and oversee economic development plan, including self-help housing for low-income families.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders including investors, government, and industry specialists.
• Identify capital needs in target communities and industries.
• Provide thought leadership in developing innovative yet sustainable solutions.
• Translate complex project concepts into solid, captivating pitches and proposals.
• Recruit and chair a committee of senior economic development specialists to meet goals.
• Be crazy creative, color way outside of the lines, and think in terms of the impossible. Then make it happen.
• Fulfill normal Board Member duties.

Qualifications

• Must have compassion for and a strong desire to transform the lives of children and families.
• Must have a take-charge attitude, keen ability to lead with little to no supervision, and lots of stamina.
• 10+ years executive level experience in New Business or Economic Development, or related field.
• Polished and poised with unimpeachable ethics and unwavering integrity a must.
• Flourishes in start-up/early stage company environment.
• Demonstrated track record of new business development, leading growth, and increasing profitability. 

• Ability to provide innovative, creative, and customer focused solutions.

• Knowledge of GSA's Property Disposal Public Benefit Conveyance process a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve and negotiate resolutions while maintaining relationships.
• Must communicate effectively with C-suite executives, celebrities, and the media.
• Understanding of homelessness, housing, and civil/human rights issues a plus.

Compensation: Unpaid Community Service
